Well, well, well. Looks like the speech-squelchers in Canada want to back off their bullying of Mark Steyn and Maclean's. Too little, too late:

This is good news. The Creeps realize they have bitten off more than they can chew with Steyn!
No details yet on what the settlement will look like. My guess is that the thugs will still demand an apology. And they won’t get one. BTT.

I agree. Time for a countersuit for restraint of free speech. Even if it’s thrown out, a Canadian court will have to admit that Canadians do not have free speech.
Never pick a fight with anyone who buys ink by the barrel.
Steyn and McCleans should press forward. No apology, no acceptance of dropping it, etc.
Like all bad laws it needs to go to the Supreme Court and get tossed out. What about the other fellow, the one from the Western Standard. Ezra something?? He did a great job of filming his HR Tribunal inquisition and putting it on the web. Are they dropping that too?
What about the people fined thousands of dollars or in jail for posting on white nationalist boards. OK, they have strange and wrong ideas, but they were not threatening anyone. Just saying things like “I don’t approve of inter-racial marraige”. Is that now a jailing offense in PCanada?
Any real meaningful “retraction” has to provide more freedom for ordinary and even unsavory Canadians, not just letting the smartest, most glib, connected and rich victims off the hook while continuing to deny everyone else fundamental rights.
I’m pretty sure Steyn gets that, so I’m expecting a lot from him.
It’s not a Congress, as Americans understand the word, it’s just a word they put in the title of their group.
