Wealthy liberal plunders refuge to furnish estate

[Martha's Vineyard] The Sheriff’s Meadow Foundation this week issued a public apology and launched an overhaul of its land management practices following the revelation that large numbers of trees and other plants had been dug up from two of its preserves and used to landscape an exclusive private property on the North Shore. *** The two foundation properties, the Caroline Tuthill Preserve in Edgartown and the Priscilla Hancock Meadow in Chilmark, were left damaged by heavy earth moving equipment brought in by contractors hired to landscape the 30-acre property of Dirk Ziff near Lambert’s Cove in West Tisbury.

Dirk Ziff is a billionaire heir of the Ziff family publishing empire, and a huge financial supporter of liberal Democrats, including Hillary Clinton, and Senators Schumer and Kennedy. He is a major figure in the povery-fighting "Robin Hood Foundation." Both he and his father, sometimes described as "conservationists," have a record of plundering public parks and reserves in order to landscape family estates. Sorry, I didn’t know that policy. But you have to admit: my title tells the story better.

The acorn doesn’t fall far from the tree, eh?

I recall an old Forbes mag profile of Mr. Ziff (senior) which opened with a description of his perpetual landscaping at his home near White Plains. One day a hill would be there, the next week it would be there, and the following week gone. Only to reappear again next month. I don’t recall if he drove the bulldozer himself, but he kept at least one fairly busy.

We'll dig him up and try him. The "Sheriff" in Sheriff's Meadow is Sheriff Isaiah Pease from the 1850s.

If you follow one of Ziff's workers, David Rathburn, you will find out he was working for the father when he took the rocks in Pawling. A formal investigation should be conducted into Ziff's actions because if there was illegal action, he should be held accountable and not just pay a fine or give a tax deductible gift and get a free pass.

If any other person would have removed endangered species, the town/government would be after them so when will they go after Ziff. He seems to have a record of being very close to politicians who end up doing favors for him and his family. THOSE DAYS ARE OVER!
Launch an investigation into his actions.

Then add it in parenthesis. If you change titles, it often results in article reposts, since others can’t do a proper search for the real title.

It always amazes me that the people who have plenty of money to go BUY things (such as trees and plants from a nursery) are often the ones who take things or expect things to be given to them.

My experience with that “I’m entitled” attitude: I waited on Roberta Flack years ago, and she walked out without paying the check or leaving a tip. The manager’s reaction: “That was Roberta Flack!” My reaction: “I know, and she can certainly afford to pay and leave a tip!”

Unfortunately, Ziff and his minions are getting the same indulgent treatment from the MA and Vineyard authorities which Swimmer Ted got after killing Mary Jo on Chappaquidick. Some animals are more equal than others.

The town should make him give back all the plants and trees and then bring him up on charges. Remember that even though the taking rocks illegally from Pawling was their father, Dirk Ziff and his brothers owned the property at that time. Doing this once and buying their way out of it is one thing but twice makes a habit. The Vineyard has a lot of rich people so it should be a no brainer to investigate Dirk Ziff.

It is not so much he is a rich liberal but if he committed a crime, the police (or fish and wildlife) must investigate. I heard someone is looking into what happened.

I can never forget the absurd wrist-slap Ted Kennedy got from Martha’s VIneyard and MA law enforcement after his homicide of Mary Jo Kopechne. Then there’s their other Senator, John-Fraud Kerry, who should have been prosecuted for treason years ago. I’m afraid it’s wishful thinking to expect that justice will prevail in the People’s Republic of Taxachusetts.

Where is all the media? This is a family known for behaving like they are above the law with deep political ties (Clinton and Kennedy’s),

I met Dirk ZIff once and there is a reason people say “within the first five minutes of meeting him, they don’t like him”. It is not new news that people recognize the he uses his high level political contacts to scare people and to for further his professional and personal goals (as we all are seeing on the Vineyard).
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH
