Nobody think's she's saying "whitey." But obviously you're having trouble wrapping your arms around the notion that THEY think it's incredibly damaging, or the Obama camp wouldn't be trying to cover this up.Not necessarily.
The Republicans could have a tape which is marginally damning of Michelle but do not want to release it because it is subject to interpretation. Then the Democrats talk about the tape to build up great expectations, so when the tape is finally released and fails to live up to the hype, the Republicans look bad and the flap over Michelle's comments are largely ignored.
The Clintons did this continuously while in office.

No, they didn't. They pulled that off, one time, with Clinton's "red faced" testimony. The rest of the time it was GOP speculation as to what "might" happen.
I don't know what's on the tape and neither do you---all we know is that the Dem snakes are already hissing, so there is LIKELY something to it.
