Egypt has banned female circumcision. The procedure can only be carried out if there is a medical necessity to do so

Medically necessary? What sort of medical necessity could there be to carry out female circumcision?

FWIW, this practice is carried out as enthusiastically by Egyptian Christians as Muslims. It probably goes back millenia into Egyptian history.

BTW, “female circumcision” is a PC euphemism. While how drastic the practice is varies greatly, for most types a somewhat closer analogy would be “female castration,” at least if one is discussing sexual response as opposed to fertility.

Medical necessity...........that’ll be the BS way they’ll get it done. This is a ban in name only BS I say. Have you ever heard of being performed in the US because of “medical mecessity”? Total crap.

Now these poor women will have to come to the US, specifically, San Fran, where the city pays for genital mutilation surgery and calls it transgenderism. We progressive folks just put a new name on an old procedure and say we are enlightened and tolerant.

Egypt is moving into the modern world, and rejecting the backward practices that hold back the middle east.
Now if they would just outlaw violence.

Female circumcision is a terrible term that completely downplays the severity of this atrocity to a woman.

The term that should be used is female genital mutilation.

It took them this long? Morons. I thought this only used to happen in deepest Africa, where men kept their women unhappy all the live long day.

Venue butterfly must have made an appearance in Egypt, and when someone suggested circumcision the women said “Now wait a minute, you want to do what?! To what?!”

Cliterectomy is a better term for the procedure.

I thought it was already illegal in Egypt.

The most painful circumcision I’ve ever heard of, besides infibulation, is one practice of certain tribes of the Hejaz/’Asir regions of Arabia. They remove the entire skin plus some skin all the way up to the stomach & inner thighs. While this is happening, he must wave a sword, shouting “with a mighty joy.” His future wife is sitting right in front him banging a drum & ululating. If he shows fear, he is disgraced for life & no one will marry him.

Some tribes of Yemen throw the foreskin into a crowd of cheering people. This is done at an advanced age, like mid-teens. Again, if he shows fear or pain, he’s the disgrace of the clan.
