Police believe Grant Fleming was attempting to rob his killer at gunpoint when the tables turned. They struggled for the weapon and the man was able to wrest it away from Grant and shoot him, police sources said. Video surveillance shows the gunman running off, tucking Grant Fleming's weapon into his waistband, the source said.

Notice these liberal a**hats call a citizen who defended himself against an armed attacker "a killer" and a "gunman", even though he didn't have a gun but used the perp's gun. Gotta love the anti-law abiding citizen bias of the MSM. I guess they think he should have stood there and let himself be killed.

Is that SOB crying?

If not, he will be soon. He'll cry really pretty when they punk him out for the first time and start selling his bitch ass for drugs/pr0nz/favors/whatever. Most gangbangers are latent homosexuals anyway so I'm sure he'll enjoy the whole prison experience.

Yeah, I guess he became a "killer" and a "gunman" when he stuffed the newly retired robber's gun into his waistband and hightailed it outta there without calling the police.

“This family is very well known to us on Staten Island for their long and glorious history of criminal behavior,” a police source said.

All that practice and still no good at it.

He didn't want to bother the police, so he was taking the gun down to them, I'm sure. Why did it not get there? Well, he had to stop and save the orphans from the burning building, help old ladies across the street, etc. ;-)

Still, I don't like slamming people who use weapons in self defense, nor do I like Political Correctness.

...the latter of which is why I am not criticizing the writer for clearly explaining who did what in factually correct terms, rather than trying to make it P.C. and use euphemisms.

Calex...do you have a suggested replacement for the text?

Well, looks like she made the right choice by staying away from this guy.

I don’t know why some posters on FR seem to think it’s a good idea that criminals will be raped in prison. I’d guess this one is more likely to be the rapist than the victim. The victims tend to be young, slightly built white men without a long criminal record or gang backup.

If you don’t care that someone might get a death sentence (AIDS) for a relatively minor crime or even an arrest without conviction, maybe you should care about the really bad guys getting their sick pleasure in prison and being allowed to persist in their brutality.

Fleming had a long history of run-ins with the law, and that he had been arrested at least ten times since 2003 on an array of charges involving weapons, drugs and robbery.

“He still was a kid, no matter what happened. He still was young,” said area resident Tommy Jones. “We’re losing a lot of our young people.”

“He was a pretty good guy,” said family friend Emmanuel Owusu. “A good father, good friend. We’re all going to miss him a lot.”

It’s sad to see a complete waste of an entire generation within a family.

I take a completely different view. To me, I hope that this particular pedagogic nightmare might be snuffed out.

It is an odd construction and there is no actual concrete reference for “gunman’s”. It just sort of hangs there and could even refer to a third party altogether. It only means “the possessor of the gun” without indicating which person is being referenced. You have to deduce that from the sequence.

I wish I had included the words "brother of duFresne killer" in parenthesis in the subtitle. There were a lot of people here following that case.

You could always ping Admin Moderator and ask that he add it for you.

Grant Fleming had been arrested 10 separate times before the killing, and was at one point accused in connection with a February 2007 shooting on Jersey Street in which an unidentified bystander was grazed in a hail of bullets.

His father, Royal Wiggins, spewed invective at several reporters who tried to interview one of his neighbors in 131 Jersey St.

Royal Fleming, who police believe to be Grant’s brother, is serving an eight-year prison sentence for a September 2007 robbery in which he used a razor or a box cutter to hold up a Jersey Street store and steal several boxes of socks and pantyhose.

I went to alot of different websites trying to find info about what happened to Grant and all I see are bad comments about him. Yeah, what he did was definatly stupid, and in a strange way he did get what he deserved. But I have known Grant personally my whole life and he was not a bad person. He was very humble and never disrespectful to anyone. He made some stupid decissions, but I honestly believe that if they made it easier for felons who are actually willing to change, made it easier for them to get jobs and housing there would be less incidents like this. His back was against the wall...he has 2 kids to take care of and no stable source of income because it’s close to impossible for a felon to get a job. And all the ignorant comments about black & white have nothing to do with this. It’s about living in poverty and trying to cope with it. RIP Gorilla Grant! Big B’s.
