Poll: Religious-minded voters tipping toward Obama
Desert News/Boston Globe ^ | 8/13/08 | staff

In recent presidential history, Republicans have swamped Democrats among voters who regularly attend worship services - and in the last two nail-biters they provided more than the margin of victory.

But a new poll out is the latest to suggest that this November will not be a repeat.

The Barna Group, which tracks faith groups, said Democrat Barack Obama is leading Republican John McCain 43 percent to 34 percent.

Obama's campaign Tuesday highlighted the findings that, of the 19 faith groups tracked in the poll, McCain is only leading among evangelicals. Still, like other national polls, it shows the race appears to be tightening. Obama led 50 percent to 35 percent in the same poll in early June.

McCain has long been viewed with some suspicion by the Christian right, and he has not solidified support among those leaders and voters. He badly needs to do so to win in November.

This man isn’t just pro-abortion, he is pro-partial birth abortion.

I don’t know that many pro-choicers who are ok with that procedure.

This bogus poll is to fool the unsuspecting sheeple masses to think that Obama ( Barrack Hussein Obama ) has the mojo.

Leaves it up to conservatives to get the word out on Obama.

Tough job when everybody thinks that people who say anything negative about Obama are just spreading "GOP Propaganda". Even when confronted with facts, they claim that we're cherry picking or worse yet fabricating.

It will take day and night footage and commercials to really get through to people who have been brainwashed to by the Leftist Media to discount anything a Conservative has to say about the Liberal candidate.

What a lie!

Only if...

Their “religion” supports abortion infanticide
Their “religion” holds that homosexuality is acceptable
Their “religion” says that the famil is what ever you define it to be.
Their “religion” holds no one accountable (especially Liberal Democrats”

Because it’s not true. There’s a Gallup poll out today which claims that “religious minded” voters are tipping to Senator McCain 50-40%.

What worries me is the ‘purists’ who will not vote for McCain because he has stuck his finger in the conservative eye too many times.

I totally sympathize with that point of view. John McCain does not deserve to be President. Yet either he, or Obama, or (I'm still very afraid) Hitlery, will be President.

I don't want to, but I'm going to hold my nose and vote for John McCain. The time to punish the moderates in the R party is in the primaries. We failed, God forgive us, to select Fred Thompson or some other true conservative. Now we have to live with our choices. Pray we don't have to live with Obama, or the Evil One.

The babies at Christ Church Hospital in Oak Lawn IL were “born alive” and allowed to die from medical neglect. State Senator Obama made this legal and voted against the Born Alive Infants Protection Act when he became Senator.

I’m surprised the NYTimes hasn’t jumped in with the Globe on this.

They fabricate a lot of their “news” too.

I guess they didn't talk to Catholic LVs. They have turned away from the messiah and he has seen an 11 point lead slip to a 15 deficit. This "poll" is a pile of crap.

I agree that a very small % of church-going Catholics will vote for anti-life Obama. The one true poll will be on Election Day.
