Those paragraphs of Humanae Vitae are NOT a discussion of what civil law SHOULD BE, but rather an exposition of how we discern what God's moral law IS.

Oh I see! The Encyclical was nothing but an intellectual exercise, a space filler?

Paul VI, nor any Pope, has any real interest in civil law. The Pope(s) are satisfied with the status quo and have no interest in civil law banning contraception?

No, you don't.

No, it was the advocating of adoption that was sickening. I am truly trying to understand why adoption is considered by some to be “second-best” not a co-equal choice with keeping the baby.

Oh yes!

I recognize spin when I see it.

Post 3044 is a great example of spin. THAT you get. It seems though that what you do NOT understand you dismiss as spin....a very human response, but neither enlightening nor enlightened.

What has been obscured so well by your spin, your personal attacks, your misquoting and strawman arguments, is the original post, containing this false claim:

Petronski: Who said anything about outlawing contraceptives?

OLD REGGIE: Pope Paul VI
You have not proved it, and I believe, you cannot prove it.

I never said that either.

John 21:25 But there are also many other things which Jesus did; were every one of them to be written, I suppose that the world itself could not contain the books that would be written.

That has nothing to do with your inability to prove your claim. It is mere misdirection, nothing more.

From your #2943: “It’s your default position of encouraging them to put their child up for adoption that is sickening.”

I have a slight grasp of English, and I think I think I recognize the word ‘sickening’ in that sentence.

I have been nothing but honest and polite with you and I asked you a question for my own erudition. I requested that you clarify a statement because of real curiosity. I did not treat you with scorn or derision. I appreciate the same consideration from you.

I see your name is latina4dubya. Would you be Catholic? Do you know the Popes teaching on this? I knew lots of Catholics growing up and the Church taught this was a sin. True? Now I do think there is such a thing as heavenly forgiveness to the truly contrite. But being pregnant is a serious matter.

how utterly racial of you to assume i'm Catholic because my name is latina4dubya... i am an evangelical, right wing, homeschooling Protestant... i believe that sex outside of marriage is a sin... i also make it a point to let people work out their salvation... i don't know Sarah Palin's heart, and neither do you... you have no clue what her prayers are... her daughter sinned... it's not for you to tell them how to live their lives... would you have told King David to give up his throne and go work on family values? if yes--well then you'd be consistent... but didn't God ordain his position as king? if not--then you are being inconsistent...
