Targeting Trig Palin (Obama supporters go negative--on a baby.)
The Wall Street Journal ^ | September 11, 2008 | JAMES TARANTO

Posted on 09/12/2008 11:51:21 AM PDT by nickcarraway

"South Carolina Democratic chairwoman Carol Fowler sharply attacked Sarah Palin [yesterday], saying John McCain had chosen a running mate 'whose primary qualification seems to be that she hasn't had an abortion,' " Politico reports. Fowler later apologized "to anyone who finds my comment offensive."

We'll leave the offense to others. We find Fowler's comment revealing and disturbing. And she is not alone in striking this theme. Here is Andrew "Beagle With a Smear" Sullivan of The Atlantic:

And then, because [John McCain] could see he was going to lose, ten days ago, he threw caution to the wind and with no vetting whatsoever, picked a woman who, by her decision to endure her own eight-month pregnancy of a Down Syndrome child in public, that he was going to reignite the culture war as a last stand against Obama. Sullivan loses control of his syntax, but Salon's Cintra Wilson manages to make a similar point with flawless grammar:

Sarah Palin is a bit comical, like one of those cutthroat Texas cheerleader stage moms. What her Down syndrome baby and pregnant teenage daughter unequivocally prove, however, is that her most beloved child is the antiabortion platform that ensures her own political ambitions with the conservative right. This is worse than tasteless or even unhinged. It is depraved. It represents an inversion of any reasonable conception of right and wrong, including liberal conceptions.

The way that the liberals have been going after Palin’s family, especially Trig, is disgusting! And for that South Carolina woman to even suggest that Sarah should have aborted Trig........that is just downright deplorable!

The hard, shocking, jarring truth is that the far-left made a determination that Trig Palin is not worthy of life.

They made this decision years ago and have built a political empire on that foundation.

When Trig Palin lives, and especially now that Trig Palin has been brought to the spotlight, it focuses attention on that foundation.

How can a “pro-choice”, non-political, moderate woman not see her “defenders” for what they are when she realizes that they hate Trig Palin?

The question that eventually works it’s way into the brains of those who are offended by this realization is “who else will they claim has no right to live?”

And then the foundation of the political empire of the pro-death politicians is sundered, and their political temples tumble.

That is why leftists hate Sarah Palin, and more, they hate Trig Palin. He brings their destruction.

Ditto. Can’t wait to see the look on Meredith and Matt’s faces on 5 November.

So, we are supposed to simultaneously believe that McCain picked Palin to be his VEEP “out of the blue” on Aug 27, and Palin decided to carry her child to term around Jan 15 in order to promote her run at VEEP...

Have I got that right, Andrew?

I hope the insanity of the liberal left in the recent weeks has shown the middle ground folks exactly what they are.

If this is who Obama represents, do they really want him and people like him in office?

And as much as I despise the comparison to Hitler I hear all the time from lefty’s, the similiarity between liberalism (of what I previously thought was only the extreme element, but I’m finding it’s not) and the Nazi mentality is staggering.

They think that we think like they think. They don't understand being motivated by something outside and greater than one's self. When asked whether something is right or wrong, they have nothing on which to stand that isn't sliding around on relativism. We, on the other hand, have an absolute moral foundation.

Fowler later apologized "to anyone who finds my comment offensive."

So she didn't take back what she said, she's just apologizing to those who don't agree with her statement. What a complete buffoon.

No matter how much I read about this it still amazes me that they go after that child. Not that I think they are too bright to figure out that it hurts them more than her but that they can’t grasp the concept of someone actually loving a less than perfect child. At least in their eyes he’s less than perfect.

Her idiot husband was absolutely ecstatic at the thought of hurricane Gustav destroying New Orleans during the Republican Convention. Libs are the lowest form of scum on this earth

I am going to spare the outrage because that is one of the ploys of the liberal establishment. What this really is is a cultural war. It is a contest between good and evil, with a lot of people stuck in between who have been fooled into not believing that it is a battle between those forces.

What a relief it is to know that, too! They attack children, women; they hate God, they hate goodness; they celebrate their own depravity; they celebrate the kind of societies that kill their own disabled. This is what National Socialism is all about! And this behavior will likely even get worse until people with the courage of their convictions will have to group together and crouch in bushes to win.
