Pelosi Lashes Out at Bush, McCain Over the Financial Crisis

Sarah Lueck reports on Congress.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi lashed out at President George W. Bush and Republican presidential candidate John McCain, calling the troubled economy a “man-made disaster” and criticizing the president for not explaining more to the American public.

“This morning at the White House and throughout the presidential campaign one thing is clear: George Bush and John McCain have no credibility when it comes to the economy,” Pelosi said at a news conference. “Just the brevity of the president’s statement. We wondered if he was ever going to come out of hiding on this subject. He came out for one minute and said very little.”

Pelosi said Bush should have explained what’s going on with the financial crisis and offered an “an apology to the American people for the situation that we are in.” She also said both Bush and McCain have “no credibility” when it comes to the economy. “How else could John McCain, in the midst of the greatest financial crisis since the Great Depression, tell the American people the fundamentals of our economy are strong?”

Hey Pelousy, why don’t you yell at your buddy, Barney Frank!

In 2003, Frank rejected Bush administration and Congressional Republican efforts for the most significant regulatory overhaul in the housing finance industry since the savings and loan crisis. [26] Under the plan a new agency would have been created within the Treasury Department to assume supervision of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the government-sponsored companies that are the two largest players in the mortgage lending industry.[27] “These two entities, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, are not facing any kind of financial crisis,” Frank said. He added, “The more people exaggerate these problems, the more pressure there is on these companies, the less we will see in terms of affordable housing.”

Barney Frank is Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee.

Chris Dodd is chairman of Senate Banking Committee.

These are the point people, and I think most people know it. Pelosi is just plain stupid.

Uh, Nancy...If you're so f$%#&ing bright, why didn't you see it coming? In fact, this happened on your watch and it is your liberal policies that encouraged lending institutions to make loans to less-qualified people.

Rush is fabulous on this today. The whole crisis actually goes back to things like the Clinton administration, “redlining,” the Congressional Black Caucus, and the black Dem power structure that is and has been heavily involved in Fannie Mae and in real estate manipulation in all of our major cities. Don’t forget that Obama was also involved in this world.

These Hacks are giving the McCain Palin campaign plenty of material to work with. Much of it is posted right here on FR, on various threads.

Thomas Lifson, American Thinker says....
“The Democrats know very well that their strength lies in voters’ feelings rather than analysis, and so they choose slogans and labels aimed at creating fear of ‘mean-spirited’ Republicans or ‘domestic spying’ on ordinary Americans, and avoid directly addressing specifics of policies. They create positive images of the government “taking care of people,” and, above all, reject close examination of the outcomes which could be expected given the realities of human nature. The very format of most television, with no room for rational back-and-forth discussion or critical analysis, enables the flinging of labels.

Republican conservatives have generally been far less sophisticated at this game. By its very nature, conservatism is based on reflection and a due regard for the complexities of change and the flawed nature of the human creature.

As a result, Democrats and their allies have paid close attention to image management, and with the help of their friends in the entertainment industry, they have become extraordinarily skilled at it…
:
However, when American politics enters what I earlier called attention season, Americans un-obsessed with politics begin to pay attention to actual arguments made by the candidates. When there is an atmosphere of crisis, and voters have reason to believe their personal welfare and safety may be at risk, they ponder whom to believe, and talk about politics with others.”

We are in the ‘Attention Season’. Get to work folks!
Get the facts out there! Nine percent Nancy does not tell the truth!

Yes. Here is some of the "root cause" (as a Klintoon hack used to like to say):

“pelosi lashes out at bush, mccain over the financial crisis...”

translation: “pelosi, in another blow for the revolution and a major coup, lashes out at bush, mccain over the financial crisis precipitated by revolutionary forces of the peoples’ revolutionary democrat party...”

IMHO

imho

She’s got some nerve.

I hope an investigation is opened so that everyone can see how the DEMOCRATS and a few RINOs blocked the overhaul of Fannie and Freddie.

Democrats are ass-deep in this thing. That’s why Pelosi and other Dems are trying to get out in front of it.

What I find strange is that NOT ONE Major Media source has been able to find a tape of Jesse Jackson’s “Racist Mortgage Banks!!” screed. It’s like it has been dropped in to an Orwellian Memory hole, along with ANY mention of how much money Democrats walked away from Fannie with!!!

If this really was primarily a Republican issue the Drive By Media would be all over it, and I’m not seeing much of that.
