RANGEL UN-MOVED : OFFICE STILL IN STABILIZED APT.
NEW YORK POST ^ | September 29, 2008 | CHUCK BENNETT

Three months after Rep. Charlie Rangel admitted he improperly converted a rent-stabilized apartment into his political campaign office - and promised to give it up - the embattled pol still has not moved out.

For the past decade, Rangel's political operation has been headquartered in a $682-a-month, one-bedroom apartment at Lenox Terrace - the same Harlem building where he has three other rent-stabilized apartments for personal use.

And even with the furor over his sweet rental deals continuing, Rangel doesn't plan to move his operations to a $4,000-a-month renovated brownstone at 193 Lenox Ave. until mid-October...

"He was disingenuous at the least. That was deceptive. Moving doesn't mean when the lease is up," said Melanie Sloan, director of the Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics.

But Rangel's lawyer, Lanny Davis, said...

He will ride this out. If he were Republican he would have already resigned his House seat. But, since he’s a Dem it’s OK. But what goes around comes around. If Obama is elected the Democrats will fail so spectacularly and corruptly that not even the MSM will be able to cover it up.

Rangel has asked the House Ethics Committee to investigate the arrangement.

That should buy him a few more years.

Don't count on it. Not the failure part but the cover-up part.

So far the MSM seems to be doing a pretty good job of covering-up demo/socialists blame in the financial crisis and Obama's ties to radical groups. Based on the Polls I would say the sheeple are falling right in line.

He’ll be fine. Pelosi told him to resign his position and he told her to get lost. He’s been appearing for photo ops on the bailout mess. He’s black, which is as good as being gay. He and Barney Frank will be safe for life.

The only thing that might take him down is if this building has restrictions on commercial use of the apartments. But that probably wouldn’t count in his case, either.

Despite federal indictments and the FBI finding $24,000 in laundered cash in his freezer, Rep. William Jefferson is still in Congress so why not Charlie Rangel?

Of course, since there's a Republican in the White House than all problems are due to evil Republicans. But should Obama win they won't have that excuse. And when he fails, as he will, even they won't be able to cover for him. Recall that Reagan won election twice and the GOP took Congress both due to Democratic failure. It will happen again. Unfortunately, the failure will hurt the country in the process.

I understand what you are saying, unfortunately I don't share your optomistic outlook. It was a very different world and US when Reagan brought us back from Carter's debacle and the rot of 50 years of democrat rule.

Events are moving much more quickly now and the consequences are more complex and deadly. The demographics since Reagan won have shifted dramatically. That was before there were 50 Million from 3rd world countries here now sucking on the governement teat. These people by and large are not going to stand up and fight socialism, they are largely the receipients of the wealth transfer.

Back then you also didn't have far left billionaires like Soros, Peter Lewis and several others, manipulating the financial markets in order to bring about a collapse of capitalism in order to usher in socialism and far left control of the powers of finance, government and media.

Not to mention the now full control the left has had unfettered of our schools for two gernerations of brainwashing of leftist dogma along with all of our other major institutions.

Am I being pessimistic? You bet I am, but that doesn't mean I'm giving up. I'm just trying to point out that we shouldn't delude ourselves into thinking that it's OK if Obama wins, we'll let him fail and pick up the pieces. It's not going to be that easy. With socialists in control of the WH, Congress, Senate and the courts it will be a long, long, long road back and may not happen in our lifetimes.

People were saying the same thing in 1993. Hillarycare was a done deal. The Permanent Campaign would mean Democratic dominance forever. We need to be optimistic and fight the battles we can win. An Obama Presidency does not have to be the end of America as we know it.

He is counting on Obama being elected, in which case, he will be totally untouchable.

The problem is that most national and big city LEO are headed by leftists that want more power. They push their own agenda by letting democrats off when caught red handed in crimminal activity and persuing Republicans when there is no crime at all. They are as biased as the liberal dominated media and press.
