I think Sarah has played this smart by staying as neutral as possible. Remember, she and McCain are running as opponents of earmarks and wasteful spending, and Stevens is the king of earmarks. Also, if Stevens gets off, it won't necessarily be because he is innocent, but because the prosecution screwed up.

She really needs to be the first one to publicly embrace him and demand he be made whole.
It should be pointed out that Obama got a similiar size break in the purchase of his house from Rezko. Every time Stevens comes up we should mention that. We can only hope that Rezko Rats out before Nov.

There’s no love lost between the two of them. I doubt she would have gone out of her way to say anything nice about him even if he weren’t under indictment.

It may be tough right now, not that it is not morally the right thing to do. Stevens is Senator “Bridge to Nowhere” and the media and Dems would go ape and damage her strong case as
