State board problems: Vanity
me | October 4 | grellis

Posted on 10/04/2008 5:44:48 PM PDT by grellis

I am aware that the mods are trying to limit the number of vanities appearing on the news forum, and I heartily applaud their efforts. I am posting this thread on the news forum because, right now, we are having a problem on the Michigan board which is affecting our ability to share local news with other MI board members.

Here's what I know: In the last day or two, the optional state message board notification defaulted out-- those of us who had chosen the option stopped getting our state messages. We have tried reopting, but when we "click here," we get a message stating that the document is not found or does not exist on the server--something like that, anyway. Has anyone noticed if this is happening on a state board other than Michigan? If you usually get state messages but haven't had any in the last day or two, could you manually access your state board and see if you are also experiencing problems?

Under normal circumstances I might not be too anxious about this, but we're in the homestretch of the election--access to other local and state activists is critical.

Before you ask, I am logged in, I am series, and no...a moose has never bit my sister.

Thanks in advance for any help or advice you can give!

I was wondering if there was a problem, but I go back and forth between my desktop and laptop and thought the glitch was on my end!

Same thing’s happening with North Carolina. I guess it’s a programming glitch.

My settings yesterday suddenly went from opening a smaller slave window when clicking on a thread to opening in in the same, large window.

I went into Account, and had to reset it several times before restoring it. I’m not sure, but I think maybe that might also have been a side effect like the one you’re experiencing.

I hope you understand when I say I’m glad it’s not just Michigan. We’ve really been getting it in the rear lately and I think MI Republicans are starting to feel a little paranoid. ;-)

It’s hard to see how the programming of just Michigan could be affected. However, I suppose it’s like finding out that everyone in your city is without electricity: you don’t wish them any harm, but the more people affectged, the harder the power company will try to fix it.

We all just have to remember to manually check our state forums. I’m so used to NC comments appearing on my screen!

My settings did the same thing--defaulted back to fifty from one hundred. It was shortly after I reset my options that I noticed the MI board was awfully quiet.

The post and thread settings are doing fine now, but there is still no banner access to the state board.

I had the exact same thought! I was seriously concerned that everyone decided to pull out of the mitten!

For the next month we ALL need to pull together and defeat Obama.

I put up a vanity thread this morning about all the negative posts, and it’s virtually unavoidable as FR posting requires using headline titles in News/Activism. Well when the headline titles come from the MSM, what else are we going to get but constant doom & gloom and it’s all over and Obama is gonna win.

I’d like to see the rules on Vanity posts loosened up for the next 30 days, if for no other reason than to breathe a little light & sunshine into the place. We can all still vent, but when you open the page and it’s all titles from the MSM, well it’s not very inviting.

The other thing that ticks me off is that Michigan is NOT abandoned, contrary to eager MSM vultures. Yes some resources have been reallocated but that in NO WAY means the state has been ceded. All statements like that do is free Obama resources to go implement more vote fraud in Ohio (and we NEED Ohio).

DU (D-bags that they are) did one smart thing back when Biden got the VP nod, they lowered the boom on anyone talking schit on Joe Biden. Yeah yeah, freeedom of speech and all that, but I’ll tell you what, you don’t have to wade through all sorts of people crying in their beer (sorry, in DU it’s crying in their latte) over someone else not getting chosen. We are in the midst of a war and for a couple of weeks it’s more constructive to figure out what we can do right, rather than moan and complain.

I’m usually pretty tolerant, but at this point, anyone trashing McCain and Palin is no different than anyone supporting Obama. If you don’t like McCain, fine, but if you can’t hold your fire until after the election then you are supporting the other side. Not the libertarian side, the OTHER, and by that I mean Barack Hussein Obama side.

Half the people that claim to support someone else are DU trolls anyway. And it doesn’t take a recent join date to be a plant.

Michigan can pull this out. You guys are not alone.

We just dodged a bullet, actually. DH came close to getting transferred to Harrisburg, PA.

We weren't dead set against the transfer, which saddens me...I've lived in the mitten all my life. I want to go on living here. I want to be buried here. But things have become so bad in this state, it just starts to feel irrevocably bad. So, yes, we considered leaving.

Problem is, DH's company wouldn't pay for us to move, and just last month we took our house off the market, where it had languished for three stinking years. We can't possibly afford to move.

My mom, who’s from Philadelphia, just this evening mentioned Harrisburg as a place nobody lives :-). She also said that fewer people are buying houses in The Villages, FL, where my parents live, because they’re having a hard time selling their houses Up North. More people are renting for the winter.

I know you’ve been wanting to move out of your current location for a long while. I hope something works out better for you.

....and just last month we took our house off the market, where it had languished for three stinking years.

OMG -- I am SOOOOO sorry. I know what it's like. After nearly 3 years we had started contemplating taking ours off the market.

My heart truly goes out to you.

As for the technical issues around here, I haven't had any problems with the Virginia messages showing up on the front page for me, but as others (including you) I did have to reset all my preferences in order to get new windows to open when I clicked on an article title. I also had to reset back to 20/page because it was giving me 50 and I can't stand that.

Poor hubby, he's been a member for ages, but more a lurker than poster, but lately he's started really getting involved and he was so funny about what was wrong. He thought he did something wrong and so I had to reset all his preferences for him. LOL! MEN!!! What would they do without us?
