NEW YORK – John McCain hung his final presidential debate performance on an Ohio plumber who campaign aides never vetted.
A day after making Joseph Wurzelbacher famous, referencing him in the debate almost two dozen times as someone who would pay higher taxes under Barack Obama, McCain learned the fine print Thursday on the plumber’s not-so-tidy personal story: He owes back taxes. He is not a licensed plumber. And it turns out that Wurzelbacher makes less than $250,000 a year, which means he would receive a tax cut if Obama were elected president.
McCain likes to say that he isn’t George W. Bush – and in this case of bungled public relations, it is clear he is not. The famously-disciplined Bush campaign operation would likely have found the perfect anonymous citizen to illustrate a policy proposal, rather than spontaneously wrap itself around an unknown entity with so many asterisks.

I think McCain found a goldmine in Joe. If things keep going the way they have today, it will be a turning point in the campaign.

Joe said he wanted to work to buy the business....and was referring to the taxes with his acquired business.
He doesn't need to be licensed in the work he is doing for someone else.
He owes $1,200 in taxes, that's really is nothing.
Remember that guy who beat up the terrorists in Scotland? Well, Joe is like that guy, the MSM can't touch him. If they try, they will only soil themselves.

I'm more pessimistic about this election than most here, but man, is this a stretch.

I think McCain has stumbled on gold again. This is another Sarah moment in the campaign.

What bothers me is the man never said he made 250,000. He presented Obama with a hypothetical question and Obama answered it. The MSM needs to get bent. Barrack Hussein (Steve) Obama is a socialist. Period.
I think it is a deliberate attempt to rework his statement....Obama and Biden have taken the same meaning as the authors of this piece...
Joe was an answer to prayer. How else can you explain the odds of Obama just happening to walk down Joe’s street while he was out in the front yard, an intelligent, articulate and photogenic all-American guy who’s not afraid to confront the Democratic front-runner? The day before the final debate and the conversation, in which Obama reveals to the world his true nature, on film? He manages to crystallize Obama’s socialism and calls it for what it is. Then he goes on to do the same on national TV over and over again. I will always believe this was a God thing, and Satan’s minions recognize it as such, thus their fury.

Owing back taxes isn't a crime and Joe doesn't need a license to be a residential plumber in Ohio.
And Bob Williams, a senior research associate at the independent, nonpartisan Tax Policy Center, said that Joe's tax cut would probaly be greater under McCain’s tax plan than Obama’s.
It is THE losing issue for them for 2008 and they know it. This is abject desperation.
First a reporter makes up a story about the rabid Republicans at the Palin rallies that takes on a life of its own, and now we have a Private Citizen publicly eviscerated by the trusted Mainstream Media and the Democrat Presidential Candidate Barack Obama.
My God, have the people in this country lost all common sense and decency? Spoiled children running the household.
