Sunday, October 19, 2008 saw one of the largest rallies in support of Proposition 8, the California Constitutional Marriage Initiative. It was held in Cupertino, California at Veterans Memorial Park. This was an operation organized and attended by predominately Chinese Christians, and which featured many speakers, prayer and song.
Prayer was lead by the Reverends Luke Poon and Soo Nam Sung. Messages included Tony Perkins from the Family Research Council, Rev. Won-bae Shon, David Cannistraci, Ron Prentice from the California Family Council, and Rev. Thomas Wang.
One estimate put our crowd at 3500 and garnered some media coverage. It was a fun event and personal pictures and other article links follow.
Sunday's gathering at Memorial Park in Cupertino was part pep rally, part church service and part fundraiser. Members of several dozen churches from throughout the Bay Area attended. Organizers sold red Proposition 8 T-shirts for $5 and set up donation boxes.
Singing Christian worship songs, many in the largely Asian crowd said that a marriage between a man and a woman is the foundation of traditional Asian societies. Others recited Bible verses and said religion was the driver of their views.

San Francisco resident Bruce Budnick was handing out a two-page pamphlet at Sunday's rally that stated in all capital red letters, "Stop indoctrinating grade school children about adult sexual politics."
Budnick said a decade ago, when he had children in grade school, there were attempts to educate his kids about AIDS and sexual acts.

Thanks for the report & the pictures. I know down here in So. Orange County, we rarely ever see a “No on 8” sign/bumper sticker. Conversely, we see quite a number of “Yes” stuff around the area :o).
You are lucky. Here it’s reversed. That’s why this was such a great rally to be at. We are not as alone as it often feels here in Bizarro World. :-)
I should also add, there was A LOT of voter registration going on at the rally, with Monday (today) being the deadline to turn in registrations.
