It’s extraordinary, how some are taken from us, others churn on. Rest in peace, I heard about it tonight, it seems it took him suddenly, this last bout with the illness even if I guess he suffered from the disease.

Barnett was a fine conservative writer and a decent talk show host. Given his cystic fibrosis, everyone knew the odds were against him, but he was so bright and had such a totally positive attitude that his death still comes as a shock.

I was stunned to hear the news on show yesterday. Dean was my favorite fill-in for Hugh (truth be told, I kinda preferred Dean to Hugh). Sad that he did not live to see the rest of the campaign. Sad news any way you look at it.
