What ‘activity’?
I’m starting to question your sanity...
The lead singer for Aerosmith is Stephen Tyler, and to my knowledge he did not say that. Their lead guitarist, Joe Perry, DID SAY THAT.
Just in case you wanted to know,Joe Perry and the Motor City Madman, Ted Nugent are hunting buddies who have the same philosophies about a lot of things.
Very nice civilized sarcasm by the way. Well done. I’ll try the exhale until I get down to the ‘it’s frozen’ technique trained by lord Zod. :)
A little of Andrew Wilkow speaking here! Good news!
I was a punk rocker thru and thru during the earliest years 1975 - 1978 and I was one of those who hated the hippies and leftists, those that “mean well” - the beginning of PC. As in, “if you don’t like the fact that Rasheed stole your skateboard shouldn’t the community all sit down like a tribe and decide what the appropriate action to take is?” And it always resulted in a hug when you wanted them to be punished? I’ve heard all the leftist lies from forever and they’re just lies. Everyone from Ronald Reagan to General Petraeus is to me the type of reactionary that in the young is defined as “punk” - by that I mean plain American, no frills, no metrosexuality, no she/him = “shim” - just plain American. My family knows me as someone who, coming from a Big Ten University town had it all in the bag, including great grades - but I never got over those early years, never gave in to the leftists - so I’m labeled a reactionary, as in reacting against the University drivel and leftism here in the center of the country’s poop sandwich Madison, WI. This town has any number of faculty signing that goddamn on-line support letter for Bill Ayers. Anyone want to know why the son of a McCarthy Republican in this blue hellhole is a reactionary? My old man moved here from the South after WWII to get away from the Democrats and their segragated foolishness - if we only went for “content of character” over “great society” we would have made America greater than it already is. If we ONLY went for content of character on every issue instead of running to judges and lawyers for freebies, we would be greater still.
“don’t know what I want, but I know how to get it...”
That did it (along with a couple of ales.)
Now I’m going to have to bust out the CD!
*******************************************************
I’ve got that on my ‘puter/WMPlayer but I like Sids “My Way” better...
Speaking of record labels ,, does anyone here remember “Stiff Records” motto??
(Answer ... “If it’s not STIFF it’s not worth a f**k!”)
You lost me on the Lord Zod comment.
I googled (actually dogpiled) it.
I’m still lost...
In his own words:
“I know many of you think anything “establishment” is bad... and you’ve got disgust for anything GW Bush and (the party that birthed him) the Republicans (and I would agree with you on many points I’m sure)...”

Libertarians are supposed to have MUCH more in common with Republicans than Democrats, at least that was the case when I was a member in the mid 1990s.
I hear this as the standard Leftist Republican bashing. Yes, particularly since he is directing this to readers of his blog, who I would be shocked to learn, that as “hip” punk rock fans and musicians, are anything but cool, progressive Leftists.
Johnny Ramone was the vilified punk rock conservative that proves the rule.
That said, he does go on to make some great statements. My only problem was with the qualifier, which he felt important enough to insert at the begnning, before he even got started.
Good one.
I always suspected there was a small streak of conservatism in the Punk movement - just look at the Ramones. Not to say there isn’t a larger Leftist faction.
Not conservatism. Just independence.
Which as they mature is destined to become anti-big government.
Which leads to conservatism!
Now if we can just keep the kids off MTV!
“... always suspected there was a small streak of conservatism in the Punk movement - just look at the Ramones”

That was only Johnny Ramone, and he didn’t really start speaking out about it until the band was out of the spotlight.
He wrote on a couple of occasions of the crap he had to put up with, as a Republican, from the rest of the band, so the Ramones as a band, were hardly conservative. As Punks, they would lash out against everything, but they were not predisposed to a right-wing perspective by any means.
The band itself had at least a couple of anti-Reagan songs
Hell Yeah!
Sometimes they will surprise you.
bump for later
It’s true. Everything bad in Education filtered out from Madison, WI, Ann Arbor, MI & the University of Chicago - from way back. This bunch of lard a$$ liberal swine hijacked the culture and moved it to Mother Jones territory two decades or more ago - and it fanned out. Littered by the wayside is everything Americans hold dear. Even though ostensibly I belong to the boomer generation having been born in 1960, I have ALWAYS opposed them, except in Art. The Right has to get on board the Raft of the Medusa and produce great art again. Life is not rhetoric only. Artists like to get PAID after all.
Forgive me for delving into deep musical trivia, but if I remember correctly it wasn’t just Johnny. Joey was reportedly a big fan of Reagan until the the Bitberg cemetery visit flap. Or so the story goes...
bump
I don’t know. The piece I read by Johnny Ramone, about 2 years before his death, seemed to indicate longstanding, and deep political disagreemnet between him and the rest of the band.
