Not in Peter Roskam and Mark Kirk were reelected.
95%? Not in this state.
No, it’s plain people in IL love the bama.
$$$ in the bank means they are insulated from rat-induced economic woes.
We low-income folks, not so much.
Hopefull in will be 1994 and not 1934.
Get a load of post #65.
“Don and Roma’s WLS Morning Show. They have been hugely pro-Republican, and never had to eat crow, though on fairly rare occasion they would take mild some guff from callers.
All-in-all, I had the impression that Don and Roma were quite represemtative of those in the suburbs.”
Obviously not. I used to listen to them in the when my mom drove to school many years ago.
Actually, the shift to the left in DuPage County is a big deal. This used to be one of the GOP’s strongest suburban strongolds. It has many Evangelicals (Wheaton College is in DuPage County) but it has been voting more and more left in recent elections. It is a disturbing trend.
In DuPage County, where Republicans for decades have counted on strong turnout to boost the GOP ticket, Obama won 54 percent of the vote with 99 percent of the precincts in. To put Obama's early, unofficial total in DuPage County in perspective, his more than 224,000 votes there are nearly as many votes as Ronald Reagan received there in his 1984 landslide over Democrat Walter Mondale.
Uh, sorry John Patterson, to "put this in perspective" the population of DuPage County is nowhere near the level it was in 1984. In 24 years my *little* Village has DOUBLED in population and size (land area). Naperville has also exploded in size and population. Ergo Barry's 224,000 votes in DuPage mean... poop (medical term).
Furthermore you bonehead 'journalist', take a look at the rest of the races in DuPage. Every single one was won by ... surprise (not) ... a Republican. And in some races the RATS didn't even have a candidate.
Granted the RATS have made inroads in DuPage and vote totals are going up -- thanks to Volvo driving brain-dead yuppy scum from Chicago, Section Eight housing (a fricken scourge) and illegals, oops, 'immigrants'. But as long as I'm still suckin' air DuPage will be RED.
I have friends who fit into this group. They vote based on emotion and who they like best (based on media coverage). PERIOD. They have no understanding of what each party and candidate represents. The extent of their research of a candidate’s positions is to visit their website—a sad state of affairs. Of course, I told one of them that she wasn’t too bright. Bright side is, these voters will easily swing back to Republicans after Obama and the Democrats do not fulfill their pie in the sky promises.
Exactly! You articulated that so much better than I could!
