I wish the NRA had weighed in on this a little sooner. I know they endorsed McCain, but I wonder if they couldn’t have done a little more.

I know this is off topic but I didn't want to start a vanity for it and have been waiting for a related topic to come up.

I recently bought a 9mm Cougar and it came with an envelope that had a spent cartridge and the envelope was marked rifling and of course with the serial number of the gun.

I seem to remember hearing of a law they wanted to pass to "fingerprint" guns to trace them to their owner, is that what the spent cartridge is for?

Any Freeper help on this would be greatly appreciated, I don't mean to hijack the thread.

The spent casing means it was test fired by the manufacturer. Nothing to worry about.
