Senator Barack Obama's presidential campaign slogan, "the audacity of hope," should have instead been "the audacity of deceit." After months of telling the American people that he supports the Second Amendment, and only hours after being declared the president-elect, the Obama transition team website announced an agenda taken straight from the anti-gun lobby--four initiatives designed to ban guns and drive law-abiding firearm manufacturers and dealers out of business:

Remember that 5-4 Supreme Court Decision?
What happens the next time when it’s 5-4 the other way?

I wish the NRA had weighed in on this a little sooner. I know they endorsed McCain, but I wonder if they couldn’t have done a little more.
I expect this is only a start.

I know this is off topic but I didn't want to start a vanity for it and have been waiting for a related topic to come up.
I recently bought a 9mm Cougar and it came with an envelope that had a spent cartridge and the envelope was marked rifling and of course with the serial number of the gun.
I seem to remember hearing of a law they wanted to pass to "fingerprint" guns to trace them to their owner, is that what the spent cartridge is for?
Any Freeper help on this would be greatly appreciated, I don't mean to hijack the thread.

Staris decisis, remember. Oh, wait. That only applies when the libs have got the answer they want...
To: Las Vegas Ron
The spent casing means it was test fired by the manufacturer. Nothing to worry about.

If gun laws in fact worked, the sponsors of this type of legislation should have no difficulty drawing upon long lists of examples of crime rates reduced by such legislation. That they cannot do so after a century and a half of tryingthat they must sweep under the rug the southern attempts at gun control in the 1870-1910 period, the northeastern attempts in the 1920-1939 period, the attempts at both Federal and State levels in 1965-1976establishes the repeated, complete and inevitable failure of gun laws to control serious crime.

Just ordered another 100 rounds of 5.56. I also just joined www.ar15.com; their membership has practically doubled since the election.

Yep, I was thinking that maybe once he won, he would actually feel a bit bound by his campaign rhetoric which was fairly moderate.
As soon as he won he began to make hints and outright statements which make me think we have indeed elected a modern Nero.

This news would be great to use had the NRA site actually provided a URL to the "Agenda". It doesn't! I scoured the Obama site and cannot find anything that suggests anything close to this.
We know it's coming ... but dang it all .... give us some tools to take to the left with.

Make your own? Die refusing to give up your arms? I figure it’s a lot more likely now that there will be massive government killings of civilians to distract from the failures of the government’s economic policies.

The spent cartridge was in the event that your pistol was sold in Maryland. They require that it be retained by law enforcement.
