As I said, it has been an interesting week.
The controversy in California regarding Proposition 8 (the proposed amendment to the California constitution defining marriage to be strictly between a man and a woman) built to a frenzy in the days leading up to Tuesday's election and then exploded into anger and violence in the aftermath of Prop 8's slim passage into law.
I am a Los Angeles Police Department detective supervisor running a sex crimes unit covering the western quarter of the city, which also includes the area where the Los Angeles temple is located. I have a fantastic crew of 20 detectives who are an amazing mixture of races and sexes. I have several detectives who are openly gay or lesbian. This orientation has nothing to do with their efficiency as investigators. I deeply respect and like these individuals. I enjoy working with them. My life is often in their hands when we serve high risk search or arrest warrants. I trust them implicitly.
Obviously, the types of crimes we investigate bring us into regular contact with victims who are of an alternative lifestyle orientation. It is incumbent upon us that our compassion for these victims be no less than for victims who are heterosexual.
Hard Choices
Working in such an environment, I found taking a position on Proposition 8 to be difficult. Even though I chose to follow the direction of our Church leaders in my voting decision, it was extremely hard for me to place myself on the line when it came to actively working to ensure the passage of Proposition 8.

You know, I find it interesting that the author was so dismissive of someone’s racial background, and far more attentive to someone’s professed sexual orientation. But then, that’s the goal of the homosexual agenda - being treated always as being special, something different, while at the same time demanding that everyone bend their lifestyle and morals to appease their own.
As for the protests, and those who ‘control them’, bah. Had that been a protest about concealed carry, the protesters would have been shot for acting like that, and such a thing is a debate about an actual constitutionally protected right, vs some lifestyle choice. Equality is only for those who follow the liberal agenda, conservatives need not apply.

The word “intolerant” is a reflection of its user.
They claim others are intolerant while showing the rest of the world that they harbor no tolerance for any view but their own. AND they are getting uglier.

Evil is evil. Our culture allowed this conduct to grow up and flourish like weeds, and now the gay community senses its political power and is bent on tormenting the remaining good people who stand in its way.
What folly to think that people who practice a lifestyle that the LORD condemns as an abomination are otherwise basically good folks. We are witnessing the true face of godless tolerance.
Your comments about working with homosexuals are true. Forgetting about their lifestyles they do very well in the workplace. However, as aptly described in the movie "Silence of the Lambs" these people covet what they cannot have. Allowing them to mock marriage is wrong. Marriage can only take place between a man and a woman. Perhaps society has forgotten the purpose of marriage.
The voting would have been considerably more lopsided supporting the amendment if the proposition itself had been worded correctly, and if there was not a full court press with millions of dollars telling potential voters what is not true. We will be getting a lot more of that psycho-babble with the incoming administration I would expect.
You are right on. I accessed some sites linked with FR backing up what they were saying about this scourge. Truly Sodom and Gomorrah have NOTHING on us, disgusting. Instead of enforcing decency laws (which PDs go to all sorts of lengths to in dealing with prostitutes) they give ground and actually have set-asides fot that behavior whether in the form of a “parade” (gay “pride”) or “events”.
This is what happens when wrong doing (sin) is approved of, not only that but incouraged. It’s getting worse and militancy needs to be beat back, laws enforced no matter how painful or difficult.
Well, I don't think I will ever join the Mormons. I am Catholic and suggest there isn't much in my rearing that supports those opposed to Proposition 8.
Further, I am Catholic and feel a bit of remorse that a majority of my persuasion likely opposed Proposition 8. Still, this is the first year in my life that Catholic bishops (and surely not ALL of them) took a stand regarding ANY PART of Catholic orthodoxy. Maybe someday they will all feel the need to proclaim the Good News. We will see.
I have noticed that most REAL HATE eminates from the left. I have also noticed that the left is the MOST comfortable destroying institutions that have furthered civilization, and that no one tells others HOW TO LIVE with greater zeal than a liberal.
I'm pretty low in profile. People who know me know where I stand. I'm not the least ashamed of most of what I have done in this vale of tears. I will continue to suggest that I support the conservative take on the issue of marriage. I can't escape the view that people from the other side really have only the agenda of destroying another institution that has served mankind well.

Homosexuality is a behavior not a trait.
You can bet on it. One thing the democrats know is that their prime group, black people, don't buy into the gay agenda. They WILL try to convert them onto it. The black radicals are another problem (ie, Farrakhan and the NOI). They will have be thrown under the bus and ground into dust for the New Order to proceed, but they also know they need to be careful. One thing they don't want is GLBT and other moonbats fighting NOI and ACORN in the street.

Bingo! I have to say that I have a great deal of animosity inside myself towards my generation (Baby Boomers). Our generation treated marriage shabbily, and rejected it. Our children see this, and believe that marriage is "no big deal"; and, that homosexuals wanting to be married is also "no big deal" and "fair". Whose fault is it?
