Complaint hits Rezko land deal--Fired official says appraisal replaced

Antoin "Tony" Rezko leaves federal court in Chicago in this Oct. 19, 2006, file photo. Mr. Rezko spent years pouring thousands of dollars in campaign contributions into Barack Obama's climb from the Illinois legislature to Capitol Hill, and helped him raise tens of thousands more.

A former Illinois bank official, now claiming whistleblower status, says bank officials replaced a loan reappraisal that he prepared for a Chicago property that was purchased by the wife of now-convicted felon Tony Rezko, part of which was later sold to next-door neighbor Barack Obama.

In a complaint filed Thursday in the Circuit Court of Cook County, Kenneth J. Connor said that his reappraisal of Rita Rezko's property was replaced with a higher one and that he was fired when he questioned the document.

Mr. Connor, a real estate and commercial credit analyst at the Mutual Bank Corp. in Chicago, also noted in the complaint that the bank received a grand jury subpoena in October 2006 requiring it to produce information concerning Mrs. Rezko's purchase, including the bank's files on the property.

The complaint also said that the grand jury wanted information on Mrs. Rezko's checking account and loan file and that the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. (FDIC) had audited the Rezko file - although Mr. Connor's lower reappraisal had been

How exactly does this affect Obama? I mean legally.

And the governor was refusing to deal with BofA and now he is in custody. It looks like the state itself is going down before our very eyes.

Never bring a state to a federal fight.

Two appraisals can come in handy. Use the low one to pay taxes by and the high one to borrow money at the bank with.

So far it doesn’t. We may want to give it time though. Bush is not a TOTAL lame duck, and is proving it in other areas. Both current events as well as their timing is very interesting. There are many possibilities supported by both coincidence as well as more “intentional” causes.

It is looking that either 0 will either never be president or be so damaged when he becomes president that all sorts of things may go down differently than anticipated.

As interesting as the last two years has been, this next couple of months could be truly fascinating.

Timing: Why did this man wait until after the election?

Therein lies the big story.

There is a massive coverup.

It is the coverup that kills.

Dig deep, and find Obama at the bottom of the hole.

No ... the story itself is from mid-October.

The amusing part of this whole mess, though, is the similarity between Obama's "president-electancy," and that of Bill Clinton.

Both ran on a "change" platform (Obama borrowed a lot of plays from Clinton's playbook....) and both offered themselves as fresh, young, dynamic reformers.

Bill Clinton, of course, was quickly burdened by the Whitewater deal. What with the mess in Illinios, and Rezko's ubiquitous presence there, it's becoming likely that Mr. Obama will be similarly tarred by a real estate deal.

If Bush was an evil man, he'd issue a comprehensive pardon for Obama, in the same way Ford did for Nixon.... ;-)

It is illegal to accept gifts or special favors when running for public office. The reason being, because When Obama got into the Senate, he now “owed” Rezko, and and could use his office to grant favors for Rezko. Doesn’t anyone know anything about corruption anymore, or is it so mainstream now that only the Republicans get busted for it and it is “business as usual” for Democrats? I can’t remember his now, and about to go to work, so not diing fact check, but look what what happened to one of the Republicans a couple years back for taking money and I think he got a boat out of the deal as well. I know he was a pilot, because I saw him on the history channel during the Vietnam war talking about his plane getting shot and barely making it to the sea so he would not get captured. But he is doing 6 years for the same thing! You do the Math

The complaint said the Rezko loan was approved by Mutual Bank President and CEO Amrish Mahajan and others so that Mrs. Rezko could buy a 9,090-square-foot vacant parcel of real estate.

This just keeps getting better and better...

So how did this work? Let’s see: Obama wanted the house, but it was too expensive. But there was a vacant lot being sold by the same person. So, a deal is cut. Obama pays LESS than the house is worth, but his buddy mob operator Tony Rezko has his wife pay MORE than the lot is worth. The buyer is told its a package deal and doesn’t care, she gets her full asking price.

Only one problem. Rezko’s wife is paying more than the assessed value of the property! So, the assessment is changed, and upgraded to support the price needed to make up for Obama’s shortfall, as the article says perhaps $300,000.

How is this ANY different than what Randy Cunningham did, exactly?

In June 2005 it was revealed that a defense contractor, Mitchell Wade, founder of the defense contracting firm MZM Inc. (since renamed Athena Innovative Solutions Inc.), had bought Cunningham’s house in Del Mar for $1,675,000. A month later, Wade placed it back on the market where it remainned unsold for 8 months until the price was reduced to $975,000. Cunningham was a member of the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee; soon after the purchase, Wade began to receive tens of millions of dollars worth of defense and intelligence contracts. Cunningham claimed the deal was legitimate, adding, “I feel very confident that I haven’t done anything wrong.”

Cunningham is in jail.

OK, so I guess someone lending you $300,000 and disguising it via a werid land deal is a jailing offense in the case of Randy Cunningham but not in the case of Obama. Why? No quid-pro-quo, perhaps. Except we have a letter Obama wrote supporting Rezko’s government kickback. Cunningham claimed his deal was legit. Obama says he was doing it “for the citizens of his district”. What’s the difference?
