They were selling them on ebay. You can side with the person sitting in his or her basement trying to make a buck on unique mutilations, but I don’t. I’m all for tagging, killing, eating meat (heartily) etc. You left out the selling them on ebay part.

like a conscientious pet owner who probably loves her animals like here kids, despite having an unusual way of showing it.You mean like gential mutiliation in africa and the wrapping of feet so they don't grow in china?

You’re right I don’t see ‘selling’ as morally distinct from tagging, killing, eating meat, whatever. And I certainly don’t see selling on eBay as different from selling on most any other venue.

I’m talking about the act, the reason for this article’s existence. The reason the animals were taken away. You think that someone who gets off on punching holes in animals in their basement is fine. If they were living next door to you you might think differently. Just a hunch.

Good question. Doesn’t seem to be much interest in that “mutilation”.
Most people are stupid and capricious.

“So someone sitting in their basement punching holes in animals for no reason is good. I guess the laws in Pa dont go along with your moral equivalence.” They were punching holes in them for asectethic reasons the same as clipping a puppy's ears or docking it's tail. Indeed pretty much the same reason some baby boys are circumcised. There is no medical reason to do that either. I suspect this case will be laughed out of court unless the judge is a lunatic.

I don’t know about the leash, but I wouldn’t mind teaching her to roll over.

“And the tail thing? WTH...cats need their tails for balance...”
Not true. Bobcats are born with a stub of a tail at most, and Manx are a breed of domestic cat that is born without any tail at all. Both are just as agile as cats with tails.

I saw a cat one time with diamond earrings sitting in a Mercedes parked next to me at a mall.
I thought, “Who is so vain that they’d get their cat’s ears pierced and give them nicer earrings than most women will ever see?”

Punishment in kind is the only suitable thing for this abuse.

In the very old US Merchant Marine, (the days of wooden ships and iron men under canvas), it was a tradition for a sailor to have an ear pierced when he rounded Cape Horn for the first time.

In PA Humane Society/Animal Control officers ARE real cops with full arrest powers when it comes to animal cruelty or neglect. County Humane Societies are arms of the county or municipal government.
There are often other shelters like Animal Friends and such that aren’t part of the official structure and operate as non-profit organizations.
