PORTLAND, Ore. - Newly sworn-in Mayor Sam Adams has admitted having a sexual relationship with a teenage intern he met in 2005, according to Willamette Week, a news partner of KATU.
The paper said it spoke with Adams Monday afternoon while the mayor was in Washington D.C.
In that interview, the paper reports, Adams said the relationship with Beau Breedlove lasted for a couple of months in 2005.
Adams and Breedlove met in 2005 when Breedlove was 17 years old. Adams told Willamette Week the pair had a sexual relationship but only after Breedlove turned 18.
Adams had denied having an intimate relationship with the teen when reports first surfaced in 2007 - at the beginning of his run for mayor. At the time, he wrote a "Open Letter to Portlanders" to respond to the controversy, calling it simply "ugly politicking."
On Monday, he told the paper the following:
"I have apologized to Beau Breedlove for asking him to lie for me. I want to apologize to my colleagues for my dishonesty and especially to the people of Portland for my dishonesty. I should have been truthful from the beginning."
KATU is trying to contact Adams in Washington D.C. for comment on the report.

I’d leave things as they are. The time stamps are only a couple of minutes apart and they reference different sources. The cross-reference links are good enough for me as far as I’m concerned.

Fanne Foxe (born Annabelle Battistella on February 14, 1936 in Nueve de Julio, Argentina) was a dancer best known for being involved in a 1974 sex scandal surrounding Arkansas Congressman Wilbur Mills, until then one of the most powerful members of the House of Representatives. (In 1972, he was a contender for the Democratic nomination to be president.) Mills was having an affair with Foxe, who was then working as a stripper.
On October 7, 1974, the two of them had been drinking and were driving near the Tidal Basin in Washington at around 2:00 AM. The park police pulled the vehicle over, and Foxe attempted to flee the scene and jumped into the Tidal Basin.
The incident attracted much publicity, and eventually led to Mills' resignation two months later as Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee. He was re-elected to his congressional seat in 1974, but he did not run for re-election in 1976.
Foxe continued working as a stripper, changing her stage title from "The Argentine Firecracker" to "The Tidal Basin Bombshell." She published a book, The Stripper and the Congressman and eventually returned to Argentina.
