Cabinet of the corrupt
Boston Herald ^ | 2/3/09 | Michael Graham

First Tim Geithner. Now Tom Daschle? Who’s Obama’s next cabinet pick - Wesley Snipes? Dianne Wilkerson?

Not to upset the loyal O-Bots out there, but the last guy from Chicago to have this much income tax trouble was Al Capone. And at last report, he still had an outside shot at getting Commerce secretary.

President Obama pledged to change Washington, and he has. Before Obama, tax cheats used to lose jobs.

Conservative academic Victor Davis Hanson calls the choice of Daschle the “Rezkozation” of the Obama administration. Tony Rezko, you may recall, was the bagman who bankrolled part of Obama’s political career. He’s also a felon.

Amazingly enough, therefore, he hasn’t been tapped to serve in the Obama administration. Yet.

Hanson also points out that Daschle is a “threefer”: a tax cheat, a $5 million-dollar lobbyist (Daschle called himself a “strategist”) and a populist hypocrite to boot.

To paraphrase Dean Wormer from “Animal House,” “Inept, corrupt and elitist is no way to go through life, Tom.” But it’s a great way to get a job from Barack Obama.

Diane Wilkerson is the outed MA State Senator who took a bribe for $23,500 and stuffed it in her bra -- caught on film by the feebies.

Obambi and company are shady beyond belief.

That POS Daschle ought to be in prison. That he is a Democrat is the only reason he’s not.

How is it that Democrat lawbreakers never get into trouble and are often rewarded from the public till after their lawbreaking?

Is there no way to stop this?

How is it that politicians go to Washing as moderately wealthly individuals and retire as multi-multi millionaires?

This must stop or we should start shooting!!!

He made a mistake in not paying $125K in taxes. I would rather hear he forgot to pay taxes on the $500K income those taxes represent. How do you forget you earned $500K?

He’s apparently paying interest but no penalties. You and I would pay heavy penalties.

"He’s apparently paying interest but no penalties."

It is possible to negotiate with the IRS. And who is in charge of the IRS? Another tax cheat, Sec. Tres. Goebels.

What we see right before our eyes is the United States of America now in complete failure as a republic.

Corruption is now completely normal and routine and liberty is being swept away by the hour.

We are now a nation of men, not of laws, and we, the people, will ultimately be forced to deal mercilessly with this corrupt dictatorship in a very extreme way.

We see Mexico is now a failed nation and we are not far behind it.

Beck is great. Beck has the ability to say what the “average Joe” is thinking. Not many commentators on TV (even the conservative ones) will do that.

The media constantly ignores Democratic transgressions while exaggerating republican ones. Same old same old.

Exactly. Grumbling to the choir is not going to fix anything. We need to step outside and holler. A march on Washington would be better, but at least, we have to take it outside.

Really gets my dander up. I have a neighbor lady who's husband just up and left, leaving her with 2children at home. The husband had a auto repair business and forgot to pay his taxes, now he's gone no where to be found. The IRS is coming down hard on the lady, she either pays $11k in taxes or goes to the jail, no mercy for her. She had no idea her husband wasn't paying taxes and are treating her like a criminal. When I see the crooks in Washington saying it was a mistake, grrrrr. I truly believe America is quickly getting a belly full of the greed from Washington and will stand up and do something about it.

My sister owes $40,000. She has to pay interest and penalties (25% of the total), and the IRS filed a lien, levied her bank account twice, and are garnishing her wages! But somehow Timmy, Tommy, and Charley were given just a slap on the wrist.

And we're supposed to overlook their innocent mistakes while Joe Blow in the same situation gets the book thrown at him?

I'm beyond angry - I'm ready to march!

Term limits would help. All politicians must be monitored. I suggest no more than two terms.

NO!!! Just look at California to understand why term limits won’t help. Career politicians don’t cease to exist, they simply make their way through multiple offices wreaking the same kind of havoc in different parts of the government, and turn their seats into mini fiefdoms handed off to the next up-and-coming term-limited crony.

Term limits and gerrymandering go hand in hand, and if you don’t have a citizen initiative process, you have no hope of stopping the latter if you impose the former.

I say let him have more. In fact, I’m cheering him on.

He entered office with some very high public expectations regarding what he’s supposed to accomplish. He won’t be able to accomplish a single thing with his inept cabinet focused entirely on themselves and what started out as the Bush recession will quickly become the Obama depression. Unless he gets people in there who are honestly there to implement real solutions to this country’s problems in haste, he will fail.

Maybe then we can get out of this mess. It’s just too bad we have to go through the reincarnation of Carter to get there.

Perhaps that explains why the demonrats have an unstopable need to throw large chunks om money at loser businesses.

Hey, maybe it's cabinet senority based upon the value of taxes that were "innocently" "forgotten."
