Finally a comedic response to Obama. Actually funny. In current news, since tonight.
Finally a comedic response to Obama. Actually funny. In current news, since tonight.
Please describe.
I don’t see why we can’t bring back black face.
It’ll probably end up on YouTube. ;)
Dang it, you’ll have to see.. But the Rock portrays the “tough Obama”, the humor is there for a change.
The treasury secretary cold open was good. He described the serious economic crisis and said they had set aside some figure over $400 billion. That amount to be given to the first person who came up with a plan to solve the crisis. Then, he took some calls which were mildly humorous. Just the idea of a semi-shot at these clowns was enjoyable.
I watched it. Not so funny. The audience actually applauded “The Rock” Obama tossing Republicans out the window.
The Hawaiian skit was funny, in a dark, bitter way. Is The Rock Hawaiian? Quite the natural with kitschy Hawaiian song and dance.
Rock is Samoan and Black.
Must be the Samoan in him connecting. The language and harmony were spot on.
Reverse physiologically factor applies (liberal bias), the more over the top the better for everyone. It was funny and important, because the President of the United States needed an alter ego. When did Bush need one?
What is Saturday Night Life?
The Rock is 1/2 Black, and 1/2 Polynesian.
His father is Rocky Johnson, and his mother is one of the daughters of High Chief Peter Maivia.
Oldschool.
Maybe. On the other hand, the end of skit was Obama refusing to get mad. Is that what we're suppose to take from the vignette; Obama is unflappable and will always be calm and collected? Yeah, that a real sleight to Obama's character. /s
I have watched ever SNL since the campaign season began. There hasn't been ONE skit that has portrayed Obama in anything other than a positive light. It will be interesting how long this can continue.
Actually, did not watch tonight, but SNL did make some great debate skits, about the media bias against Hillary in the primaries.
I agree 100%. Those skits were powerfully effective and I think they did change, at least temporarily, Hilary's coverage the next couple of weeks.
But, those kinds of skits disappeared as soon as Obama clinched. We both know (and everyone with a brain knew) that the press was equally biased against McCain and especially Palin - no skits on them, though were there?
And still, SNL has yet to target Obama directly. They've danced around him and have hit some of his staff, but he's skated entirely. SNL is shameless - and sadly not very funny anymore.
A terrible waste of 1.5 hours.
Wine, women, and wanting it all.
If what you say is true, then we truly are living in a nation-sized version of Jonestown.
