Irey approached to run against Specter
The Pittsburgh Tribune Review ^ | February 26, 2009

Several Republican conservative fundraisers have approached Washington County Commissioner Diana Irey to ask her to consider a primary run against Sen. Arlen Specter.

Sources confirm they have offered to help her raise money.

One strategist said of the close-door meeting the conservative group was particularly impressed that when Irey went up against Rep. Jack Murtha, D-Johnstown, in the 2006 midterm primaries, she was able to raise between $300 to $400K online.

Gleason’s an unprincipled pantywaist girlyman. As long as his palms are greased he’ll swing any which way.

LOL!

Agreed...Among many other things that are best not posted here.

I understand why you are saying but it burns me up when we give blind faith to candidates and don’t discuss what can be done to better the candidate or pick another one. This has happened so many times and it always blows up in our face. Nobody here will allow any negative on the “favorite” candidates and then wonder why the candidate goes down in flames. This is supposed to be a discussion forum and that means allowing for meaningful comments that can be discussed. Once a negative is brought in then the knives come out and the blasting starts which does not help a thing.

Blind faith to candidtaes and “favorite” candidates has nothing to do with it, Diana Irey was the only candidate running against Murtha in that election and many supported her. There were a few that posted nothing but negative comments about her on this conservative forum and continue to do so and she is definitely a Conservative.

It is quite possible to have discussions regarding various candidates without referring to conservatives as “jokes,” IMO.

I believe both Peg Luksik (the Chad Koppie of Pennsyvania) and Pat Toomey have announced they are running against Specter, and they’re both well known conservative challengers from previous statewide campaigns. Seems to me that adding Diane Ivey to the mix at this time would just divide the conservative vote even further and allow Specter to win re-nomination with less than 40% of the vote.
