Scientists may one day be able to find out what a young childs personality will be like by simply scanning their brain, new research has shown.
New research has found that the shape of your brain gives a clue to what type of person you are.
The differences in the shape of the brains of 85 people were scanned and measured.
They found that larger or smaller amounts of tissue in certain areas of the brains were linked to specific personality traits...

While only a curiosity at this point, this could eventually aid in the diagnosis and treatment of individuals with resistant psychological disorders. Of course medications and other techniques would have to be developed to facilitate neurogenesis in deficient regions, but it may prove an effective tool.
As with all progress though, there is the potential for abuse, such as stereotyping, labeling, etc.

Progress? A similar now discredited science, Phrenology. was popular a hundred years ago:
"Phrenology (from Greek: φρήν, phrēn, "mind"; and λόγος, logos, "knowledge") is a defunct field of study, once considered a science, in which the personality traits of a person were determined by "reading" bumps and fissures in the skull. Developed by German physician Franz Joseph Gall in 1796,[1] the discipline was very popular in the 19th century."

I sense a consensus of scientists can agree, and its thus settled science: If the shape of your brain is a ‘pea’, then you are a liberal.

Except that this is using real imaging evidence instead of just looking at physically observable traits (tall, short, eye color, etc.). We know for example that the hypocampal regions of individuals with chronic PTSD atrophy - hence they are always on guard for threats and are depressed and have difficulty modulating their emotional responses. There is a medication on the market that has demonstrated the ability to "regrow" (neurogenesis) some hypocampal tissue and decrease the symptoms of PTSD.

Without wasting $$$ on another study, a teen brain, no matter the size or shape, will bring about a defiant and know-it-all personality. Another disorder observed is a rolling eye movement when around parental figures.
