As great as the “Tea Party” metaphor is for tying our colorful history to current events the tea party has been misrepresented as a tax protest instead of a spending protest and this doesn’t present our concerns accurately. Even Sean Hannity has been calling the Tea Parties tax “protests” when it really is so much more.
On 4-15-2009 I attended two tea parties one in Jackson Hole Wyoming, the other in Idaho Falls, Idaho. These events covered the gamut of our discontent, but I don't think it serves us well to be pigeonholed by the liberal press into a complaint that appears to be limited to April 15, this makes us appear egocentric and shallow instead people that are deeply concerned for our progeny and the bankrupt country they are likely to inherit.
In 2000 I was really ticked off when Clinton increased the annual budget from $1.8 trillion to $2 trillion dollars, a $200 billion increase in one year in a time of prosperity. Silly me, I thought that the Clinton/Gingrich budget surplus should pay down the $5.7 trillion national debt. Now nine years later Obama sells his $3.6 trillion budget to his sycophant congress and these spendthrifts make Clinton look thrifty.
Although I supported George Bush his education plan was written by Edward Kennedy and was bound to fail, his prescription drug plan is a socialistic Lyndon Johnson like boondoggle, his effort to drill in ANWR for the oil we need seems a little limp wristed, and federalizing airport security borders on insanity. All these things exasperated the national debt arming the liberals with a factual “Bush did it too” argument. Bush started this socialist bank socialization also but that doesn’t make American Socialism OK. Running up the national debt beyond reasonable numbers that the generation spending it can’t repay is immoral and we can’t stand for it, I don’t care who did it; this out of control spending has to stop. Our 5.7 trillion year 2000 national debt now is $11+ trillion and forecasted to double again in 6 to 10 years.
Our utmost concern is this escalating national debt, the Obama, Pelosi, and Reid cabal’s reckless piling on, soon to be exasperated with socialized medicine and any number of liberal dreams so they can achieve their socialist nirvana.
We need to shift the focus off today’s taxes and onto the generational theft that the Obama, Pelosi, and Reid are hell-bent on exasperating in such an exponential way it is unfathomable to libertarians, fiscal conservatives, and what is left of the blue dog Democrats.
Our American Family is in trouble, many of our Democrat siblings think they want to be socialists, Our Libertarians siblings think they want to be anarchists, some of our Republican siblings think it might be more comfortable in the murky middle and we conservatives who, all concede, are RIGHT need to show our concern for our progeny and let America know by overwhelming spectacle that millions of Americans haven’t drank the liberal cabal’s socialist Kool-Aid and are not onboard for the rewriting of the American Dream. Obama’s sycophants, lost in the haze of his aura and wonderfulness, haven’t been able to grasp the fact that everyone doesn’t think he is The One. 
I suggest we start gathering the conservative wing of our American family together and have an Intervention on our government addicted to power that is drunk on money they are absconding with from our children’s future.
By using the “Intervention for the sake of our children,” metaphor instead of the Tea Party metaphor we can remove what appears egocentric “don’t raise my taxes “ appearance to a more “paternal concern metaphor” which will be harder for the media to twist our message to something that make our movement look like egocentric children to stupid to recognize the gifts the liberal cabal is trying to give us.
We should have these interventions on Family Day Holidays like Mothers Day, and Fathers Day. I as a father I do all I can to expedite success for my children and in the spirit of that I would like to march on fathers day to save my children’s future.
I am not saying we need to replace the Tea Parties with Interventions; I am saying, lets have both.
Taxes are important, but our national debt is our problem.
Tea Party is a good metaphor however it is to easy to misconstrue.
