Report: Most Americans in areas with unhealthy air (pollution levels)

LOS ANGELES – Sixty percent of Americans live in areas with unhealthy air pollution levels, despite a growing green movement and more stringent laws aimed at improving air quality, the American Lung Association said in a report released Wednesday.

The public-health group ranked the pollution levels of U.S. cities and counties based on air quality measurements that state and local agencies reported to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency between 2005 and 2007.

Overall, the report found that air pollution at times reaches unhealthy levels in almost every major city and that 186.1 million people live in those areas. The number is much higher than last year's figure of about 125 million people because recent changes to the federal ozone standard mean more counties recognize unhealthy levels of pollution.

We are plagued with that deadly pollutant, nitrogen. We need world government regulation and taxation of all nitrogen gas.

In most parts of the country, we are probably the cleanest in the world. What does this say about them?

" Sixty percent of Americans live in areas with unhealthy air pollution levels..."

After decades of evermore repressive and destructive "regulations" from the EPA, we keep learning the air is more and more unhealthy.

How convenient for the EPA...
What would they have done if the study had concluded, "The air is fine, nothing more needs to be done?"

Total bullcrap. These maroons claim the air in Boulder and the suburbs is dirtier than Denver. Ozone is their latest trick to accomplish that.

The fact is the air here is much, much cleaner than it was in the 60's and 70's, which was much cleaner than earlier in the century when coal was the main source of household heat.

Barbara Streisand.

Most of the 2 billion people living in China would be amazed at the quality of our air. Remember, they had to virtually shut down Beijing months ahead of the Olympics due to horrible air quality.
