You've contradicted yourself. A lot of people have taken enemy fire, and while that is an unquestionably brave thing to do, attributing that alone to being a hero makes the word hero exactly what you described - "it starts to lose it's special meaning."

On the other hand, a small few have done extraordinarily valorous things while they are bravely withstanding enemy fire. Those are the people we call heroes, and to whom we award heroic medals.

Amen to your facts about Kerry - and thanks to the Swift Boat and POWs for Truth, he was exposed (again, despite the MSM).

He was more honest about his injury than was the mass media.

Here we have an article, written this week, where another member of the MSM calls Cleland a "war hero" in order to defend a viscous, predatory, horrible pedophile. How do they choose to do that?

They falsely strut out a Democrat who they have constantly misrepresented for years as a "hero."

This nonsense has to stop, and when the MSM does it, they have to be called on it.

Remember Wade Sanders? He was one of the “band of brothers”–Swift Boat veterans who supported John Kerry’s presidential campaign and appeared onstage at the 2004 Democratic National Convention before Kerry’s “reporting for duty” speech.

On the campaign trail, Sanders was one of Kerry’s nastiest surrogates. In August 2004, he likened the president to a “trapped animal.” In September, he compared Karl Rove and Swift Boat Veterans for Truth chief John O’Neill to Josef Goebbels. He repeatedly referred to the president and his men as “chicken hawks,” an especially nasty term because it is slang for a child molester as well as a derisive term for a nonveteran who favors a strong defense.

If you consider anyone who got shot at in RVN a hero the your defination is counter to most of us who were there who got shot at! Kerry may have gotten shot at but I guarantee you it wasn't because he was a hero...by all accounts when the shooting started he went the other way as fast as his motor boat would take him. As for Sanders..what a pompous @$$...I had some email discussions with him during the campaign about his boy kerry's claims which anyone who was there knew was lies. I suspect Sanders got his hero medals the same way kerry got his...by writing them up himself!
