I haven’t been following this very closely. Has this, in any way, been blamed on the US yet?
I know an Iranian gentlemen who has lived here in the U.S. for years. Back in the mid 90’s we saw him right after he had been to visit his parents in Iran for several weeks.
Even then, he told us there was extreme unrest among the younger generation. He said they wanted change and wanted better relations with the U.S. They were also heavily infuenced by western ideas, culture, fashion, etc.
SOME BLOGGERS POSTED THAT AHCMADINNERJACKET WILL BE ASSASSINATED BY MULLAHS TOMORROW TO QUELL RIOTS.
Just launch a sturdy stick or a pipe in those wire wheels....that will bring 'em down quick.
Besides, the Iranian protestors don't have guns.....they are a disarmed society. A good reminder why we never want to get that way!!

You know, there are multiple reasons for this. I understand that a number of military personnel were polled about what they would do if ordered to fire on American civilians. Most said they would recognize it as an illegal order, and not do it.
I've heard comments about how impossible it would be to resist an F-16, but my thought is that it has to land somewhere, it needs fuel and maintenance, and the pilot needs to eat. When an F-16 is based outside the area of conflict it can be devastating, but it's another story when it requires local support.
As for your comment about "target practice", I've seen amateurs, who are simply very good with a handgun, double tap five targets in about a second. There may well be thousands of American civilians who are that good.

I’m thinking it’ll be more along the lines of what happened in Romania when Ceausescu was overthrown. It only took an relatively modest gathering of protesters against the arrest of a catholic priest in Timisoara to spark a nationwide protest numbering in the millions unequivocally demanding freedom. Tienanmen was a gathering confined within a small area, much easier for the Army to quell. It appears the Iranian protests have grown beyond the ability of the military to fully put them down.

Okay, you’ve completely confused me as to what you believe. In your first post you seemed to express skepticism that the Iranian people did NOT vote for Ahmanutjob 60+%.
My point is that millions of Iranian people are risking life and limb to make sure their votes count. They are bravely protesting peacefully and getting bullets in return. They think the election was full of fraud and Ahmanutjob did not win, and I (and many others) believe them, given what’s been happening all over the country for years with young people pushing toward modernization and democratization.
What’s *your* point? Do you have one?
