Let’s say that you are President Obama. You’ve inherited a health care system that is the insane spawn of a team of evil geniuses from an alien power. Pay is divorced from performance. Users are separated from costs. Rising costs threaten to destroy your nation and everything you hold dear.
Because you have a lofty perspective on things, you know there are basically two ways to fix this mess. There is the liberal way, in which the government takes over the health care system and decides who gets what. And then there is the conservative way, in which cost-conscious consumers make choices in the context of a competitive marketplace.
You also know that these two approaches have one thing in common. They are both currently politically unsellable. Others have tried and perished. There are vast (opposing) armies arrayed against them. The whole issue is a nightmare.
You are daunted by the challenges in front of you until you remember that by some great act of fortune, you happen to be Barack Obama. This calms you down. You conceive a strategy.
The first step in this strategy is table-setting. You will spend the first several months of your administration talking grandly about the need for reform. You will invite all interested parties to the table, and you will serve a great heaping plate of pabulum. You will talk about things that no sentient person could possibly disagree with — about the need for better information technology and for more preventive care.
There will be less health care nitty-gritty here than in your average pre-K circle time, but you are getting everybody talking. You are building relationships.

I thought Hillary solved this in the first year of the first term of Bill. I am not hopeful.
The first sentence is a flat out, blatant lie. Everything after that is a waste of time, effort and money.
The answer should have been the system does NOT COMPLETELY cover all the illegals who will be made citizens to eventually vote in the 2012 elections to keep the dishonest, disreputable RATS in charge.

Brooks is the embodiment of what liberals think to be a good conservative. His worth to them is due to the fact he always winds up agreeing with their positions.

I know! If you are a working American chances are you have health coverage through your employee and payed by your employer. If you are poor you are given free health care through medicaid. If you are old you are porvided free care through medicare. If you are illegal you go to the emergency room and get free health care through I guess, via medicaid so you can vote for the President who is promising you everything for free. So where is the crisis?

Okay...let’s say I’m Obama.
I would first order the arrest for treason and fraud charges of Vice President Biden and Speaker Pelosi. I would then order the Hawaii state records office to unseal and release my birth certificate, and then I would go on national television and resign, basing it on the fact that I was not qualified to serve as President due to being born in a country other than the United States.
(Okay..this has nothing to do with the thread, but the question WAS asked of what I’d do if I were Obama.)

If our health care is so bad, why do people come from all over the world to use it? Even one of the architects of the Canadian system came here when she had cancer. The dermatologists and optometrists here in Panama City are full of Canadians during "snowbird" season. They don't want to wait for over a year at home for limited care when they can get it the same week here without the strings attached.

Would that be the race that was engineered by the evil Doctor Y’akub? In the Nation of Islam mythology, described by Malcolm X in his “Autobiography”, Doctor Y’akub genetically engineered a purely evil white race to rebel against Allah. And I don’t think there’s any doubt that members of this white race are overwhelmingly responsible for America’s current health care system.
Brooks probably is unaware that he has just given the NOI explanation for ALL of the problems in the world today. Or, maybe he is aware, and intentionally delivered a stupid insult to the One. Brook’s description of Obama’s strategy is probably accurate, but references to the NOI and “a skinny guy with big ears” don’t help. Obama’s philosophy, worldview, and policies are so demonstrably wrong that outlandish speculations and comments about his personal appearance are simply unhelpful.
