Joycelyn Elders was also famous for a quote in which she said that health care would have to be rationed. That it was a waste of money to keep old people alive when YOUNG people would be the ones paying taxes for her retirement.

Depends on the size of the estate. There is a threshold of some where between 1.5-2 million that is not taxed. That law will soon expire and it is written where it will revert to the old rate and threshold. I think it was something like 660,000 threshold and the rate was higher than it currently is.

The main point, if someone earns money it should not be confiscated to the state. Doing so is destruction of capital and harms everyone. This is what Marxist redistribution is all about, “Theft”. They did not earn it, but they take it.

I’ve been hearing about getting in accidents as part of healthcare. But wouldn’t that come under a different insurance plan, such as your car insurance, or if it was the fault of another, their insurance plan?”””
It is estimated that at least 30% of drivers on the USA roads are driving without insurance, despite many state laws where it is mandatory.

Here in Nevada, there is to be constant communication between insurance companies and the state DMV on your status. The biggest glitch seems to be the fact that you have renewed your insurance, and the state cannot get that info posted to your records. Then they insist on a $250 fine because you were “out of compliance”. They won’t take much guff from you about proof that you were covered all the time. They are quite sure their system is fool-proof.

They don’t seem to be able to find the scofflaws who deliberately let their insurance lapse and continue driving...But then everyone thinks computers are the answer to everything, donchaknow.

Liberals think rationed health care and euthanasia of the sick and old is funny.

So did Hitler.’

It is not just health care...it is every resource- electricity- gasoline-cars-food-water-housing-clothing-books- pencils—you pick.

“I would imagine that there will be a bunch of private enterprise doctors that start making house calls for cash again. If I was a doc, I would.”
Except that would be illegal under the universal health care act.”

Gotta catch both parties first—
I would invite Doc for dinner..enjoy some company- and pay cash.
Another reason NOT to have GPS on your vehicle. Or your cell phone.

Translation, Obama wants to ensure that those that voted against him aren’t around in 2012.’

That’s one aspect I have missed-—Good for you!!!

If Congress was forced to use the same health care system they are pushing - it would never get out of the gate.””

Rush said this AM that we all need to call our Senators and our Rep and ask ONE question:

Will you trade your Congressional health care benefits for the one you are voting for us to have???? Only 2 answers allowed—yes or no.
Rush is right again !!!!

Ray Moley, member of FDR’s ‘brain trust’ also a ‘fellow traveler’ said that a central planned economy would require a police state.
They’re baaacck! This time, I think, we’re ready for them. Those that don’t recognize their motives will suffer the consequences.
The key, IMHO, is not to be blamed (they always need their scapegoats for their failures and indeed they always fail).

Let the games begin!!!

Private insurer costs are offset by investment earnings that a “public option” won’t have. What replaces not only the investment earnings but lost investment capital for the economy? “””

How many dollars were lost by the insurance companies when NObama threw the SECURED bondholders at Chrysler and GM under the bus? These were their reserves and their investment earnings.

Then do away with blood sucking tort lawyers.
Doctors are people not God, get liability insurance under control.

NObama refuses to even discuss this in this current explanation. He is totally protecting the lawyers. Tort reform is necessary- national health care or not.
Therefore- the private companies will still be subjected to lawsuits and the Public Government plan will be exempt from any legal actions. You cannot sue the government- right??

The words in this book are the same words that came out of the mouth of Larry Summers (the supposed replacement for Bernanke) This is gonna get ugly.

Be ready!

I expect NObama to lower the threshhold and raise the rates even higher.

The Death Tax is the most unfair of all, IMO. That is all AFTER tax money.

The left wing boomers are in for some severe reality shocks, if and when 0b0z0 care becomes the law.

Unless, they are the left wing elites in DC and a few Blue Cities they can forget about cardiac by passes, hip or knee replacements, cataract replacement, boob jobs, plastic surgery, the newest cancer treatment or any new pharmaceutical product or gene splitting product.

Dr Krevorkian will be in charge of the treatment of anyone over the age of 60 for two years and then anyone over the age of 50 after the first two years.

Union thugs and their criminal leaders, illegal aliens and Acorn Members will have superb health benefits that will be financed by taxing the hell out of the rest of us.

Obama on Social Security: “If we can just get those old geezers dead at about 72, then we can balance the Social Security Trust Fund. We’d like everyone dead before they’ve had a chance to spend more than 5 years of SS money.”

But you can’t foresee that a procedure will be “ultimately futile” in advance.

Unless you set an administrative rule, maybe something like this: if the procedure might extend the life of a 90 year old a mere 2 years, advise painkillers or soma. If it might extend the life of a worker to retirement age, go ahead.

If it’s merely a “quality of life” issue for someone over 62, like being able to walk, see, hear, eat, or be pain-free, prescribe palliative and supportive care but no surgery.

Limit diagnostics to standard x-ray and ultrasound, reserving the more expensive CT, MRI, and radionuclide scans to those of working age or member of Congress.

This off-the-cuff rant by Obama is on the slippery slope of medical ethics and I can sympathize with his stumble. What medical procedures should be considered high risk (and potentially high cost) with low return on quality of life and/or life extension? Who draws the line on which procedures will be given to which patients? What is the value of an additional month of life and how much should be spent to get that additional month of life? Should taxpayers be asked to pay for that additional month of life? Let's face it folks- medical technology is at a point where such questions have to be asked and some of us may not like the answers.
