Obama's Science Czar: Traditional family is obsolete, punish large families
The Washington Examiner ^ | 07-15-2009 | David Freddoso

Posted on 07/15/2009 11:57:59 AM PDT by lifeisacarnival

"As United States taxpayers know, income tax laws have long implicitly encouraged marriage and childbearing...Such a pronatalist bias of course is no longer appropriate. In countries that are affluent enough for the majority of citizens to pay taxes, tax laws could be adjusted to favor (instead of penalize) single people, working wives, and small families. Other tax measures might also include high marriage fees, taxes on luxury baby goods and toys, and removal of family allowances where they exist. Other possibilities include the limitation of maternal or educational benefits to two children per family."

Congress approves the budget. In the end, we taxpayers pay for these american traitors, just like we pay people not to work.

Now lets all go make some more money for the government.

You've got it. Holdren is a community activist, an acolyte of Paul Ehrlich, who was famously wrong about almost all of his malthusian prediction. Holdren, unlike Ehrlich, who did som biology, has never done science, though his degree from Stanford is in physics. With a relatively light student load he spent much, I'd guess most, of his time writing for Ramparts, the premier Marxist journal of the 70s, Mother Jones, and organizing against things like nuclear power and capitalism. As late as 2006 he lectured and wrote about the need to lower the GDP per person in the US - something he is now in the penultimate position to do with his comrade in the oval office. There is another excellent summary of Holdren’s background by Ben Johnson at Front Page Magazine (founded by the reformed editor of Ramparts, David Horowitz). http://www.frontpagemag.com/Printable.aspx?ArtId=34198

It still amazes me how self professed conservatives can do a 180 and turn into big government, “let’s use the tax code for social engineering” and “your tax burden is never too small when it comes to MY kids” when it hits their pocketbooks or even worse, when it comes to others being forced to support their children. I know several arch conservative couples who have 4-6 kids and brag about how they don’t pay hardly any taxes at all...while condemning high taxes in general or criticizing how liberals give tax breaks to their constituencies.

I didn’t ask you to have those 5 or 6 kids and nobody asked my opinion before they raised my taxes and lowered (or eliminated) yours because having children is “such an expense”. Your children are your decision, why do support putting a gun to my head and require through the force of law for me to pay YOU to raise them? What is the oft spoke phrase of conervatives when they see welfare queens having more kids to gain greater benefits? “If you can’t afford them, don’t have them.”

And each time I mention it I get the “MY kids are going to pay YOUR social security!”. Not only do I not want YOUR kids paying MY social security but this has to be the most lame and unsupportable excuse coming out of the mouth of a conservative I’ve ever seen. We all know SS is a ponzi scheme requiring more and more workers paying into the system to cover more and more retirees.

Their response only codifies the system, basically becoming an enabler to the one issue that we all agree is bankrupt and will not be able to serve much longer without drastic changes.

And what will those changes be? It will become a needs based welfare program which means I’ll never see a dime because I was responsible and took care of my own future needs. So you can take “MY kids..pay YOUR..” and stick in the lock box.

There’s nothing more exasperating than a conservative who talks the talk but won’t walk the walk when it hits THEIR pocketbook. You’re an opportunistic poser, nothing more.

Tell you what: cap welfare benefits to a max of two children. Let me know how that turns out.

Such taxation schemes are exactly what they have in Sweden - today, the majority of Swedes live alone.

Exactly. Doing Satan’s work against Christendom to make the way for a total Muslirat takover and an endless nightmare on earth.

Perfect pick for his boss, Hussein.

That’s the “beauty” of appointing czars.

The Administration doesn’t need Congressional approval for the appointment of czars and they are not subject to Congressional oversight.

As disturbing as these ideas are, even more disturbing is the “more children=more aid money” mentality of the underclass. And there are already a LOT of “rewards” for big families, poor or not.

First, this is a ridiculous proposal because when you properly factor in mortality rates from disease, accidents, and crime, 2 kids won’t replace a couple. So this policy will lead directly to a dwindling population. There are lots of peripheral consequences economically when the population is in decline.

As far as fairness goes, kids are ultimately a contribution to the overall economic climate. Parents pour tons of money into the economy for their clothing, food, education and entertainment. They pay taxes on all of that as well. Then when the kids are older, they turn into entrepreneurs, wage earners and consumers, generating more demand and more tax dollars. Taxing the family with lots of kids is a form of double taxation if you consider this properly. There is no real inequity between individual tax payers and households, simply a difference in the tax rates exacted for federal taxes; one tax among many, many taxes.
