Eliminating tax breaks to families doesn’t punish them, it just fixes an inequity that gives them preferential treatment over individuals. They will be paying the same taxes as individuals.

I'm single, but I support tax breaks that encourage married, law-abiding people to have many children. An increasingly large percentage of my taxes goes to encouraging unmarried poor people to have as many children as possible. Our country is being stolen from us.

They get that treatment because they are providing something that the government needs: new people to pay all those future taxes that have already been passed upon them. If nobody has them ( and we are pretty close to zero growth Arley (would be if not for immigration), then the government will have to admit that their ss and medicare transfer payments are bogus. So they won't.

First, this is a ridiculous proposal because when you properly factor in mortality rates from disease, accidents, and crime, 2 kids won’t replace a couple. So this policy will lead directly to a dwindling population. There are lots of peripheral consequences economically when the population is in decline.

As far as fairness goes, kids are ultimately a contribution to the overall economic climate. Parents pour tons of money into the economy for their clothing, food, education and entertainment. They pay taxes on all of that as well. Then when the kids are older, they turn into entrepreneurs, wage earners and consumers, generating more demand and more tax dollars. Taxing the family with lots of kids is a form of double taxation if you consider this properly. There is no real inequity between individual tax payers and households, simply a difference in the tax rates exacted for federal taxes; one tax among many, many taxes.

“Eliminating tax breaks to families doesn’t punish them, it just fixes an inequity that gives them preferential treatment over individuals. They will be paying the same taxes as individuals.”
Translation: Breed Mo’ Bastards!

Civilizations subsidize families because they produce, raise, and acculturate the next generation.

As recent American history has shown, single parent families produce, by definition, bastards; and, not surprisingly, they behave like ‘little bastards’.
