UK: Pensioners at back of queue for swine flu vaccine
The Telegraph ^ | 7/31/2009 | Andrew Porter, Political Editor, Rebecca Smith, Medical Editor

List of priority groups are drawn up

Health and social care workers will be vaccinated first, followed by pregnant women and all children under the age of five, under initial plans.

The first batches of H1N1 vaccine are due to arrive next month with enough for half the population expected to be delivered by December.

It will be the biggest vaccination programme undertaken by the NHS since smallpox in the 1950s.

The groups most at risk from the disease will be vaccinated in order of priority as the batches arrive. Experts have said healthy pensioners are not a priority group as they seem to have some immunity to the virus and are not catching it as readily as younger people.

People under the age of 65 with long-term health problems which may include asthmatics, those with heart disease and people with kidney problems will be vaccinated after young children.

Next in line are all young people under the age of 18, followed by the rest of the population, including healthy over 65s, according to sources quoted in Pulse magazine.

Meanwhile the Scottish Executive has also published its vaccine priority groups with healthy over 65s the very last group to be vaccinated.

A similar list has been published by the American health authorities and it too lists healthy over 65s as the final group to receive the H1N1 vaccine.

The final decision about the priority list for England will not be made by Andy Burnham, the Health Secretary, until the middle of this month. It will be revealed after a meeting of Cobra – emergency committee chaired by Mr Burnham – that was set up to co-ordinate the swine flu response from Whitehall.

Mr Burnham has made it clear that the priority list will be based on scientific evidence.

Nope. Pensioners are not more likely to be immune. They are expendable, expensive.

Obama is doing EXACTLY what the left did in the UK for the past 15+ years. Muslim and third world asylum seekers (illegal aliens) get ALL the benefits and seniors get nothing. Muslims get their own health clinics and hospitals - TRUE. Brand spanking new too.

WW2 vets literally freezing to death because they could not afford the heat. The great thing for the Left in the UK - whit epeople -especially old WW2 era white people do not complain.

They do have a sound basis for this. The flu is worse in the young, including young adults to middle age adults.

Apparently, older people’s immune systems don’t react to it as violently, subduing it.

That was the case in the 1918 flu, and seems to be the same with this one.

My folks are 88 and 87. For the last 10 years, all I have heard from our family doctor is, "Did your folks get their flu shots."

I know it...my folks are 87 and 85.

This one is different from the seasonal ones though.

I wonder how the push for the swine flu vaccine will affect availability of the normal flu shots? Hmmmmmm.

"UK: Pensioners at back of queue for swine flu vaccine "

Kind of telling when the most vulnerable people, the elderly and sickly, are last on the list to receive vaccines, while they youngest and healthy are first.

It's in direct contradiction to what we now know who are the most vulnerable to this so called "Pandemic". It's always those who have complications from other health problems that are most at risk to die from complications.

Anyone still think this "pandemic" just "happened" all by itself? They have been trying from the very beginning, when on Mexican village had a flu outbreak, to try call this a pandemic. There is no doubt in my mind that this "flu" was created, and it is a 2 part flu, where the first part is intentionally spread to the 4 corners of the earth, and the second part, which will NOT be easily passed from person to person, will be released in "problem areas" where there is a higher number of old and sickly people that are a burden to social programs. It's not a USA thing, it's a UN world government thing, which our government is full of elitist members of

Apparently, older people’s immune systems don’t react to it as violently, subduing it.

The largest number of deaths among a exposed population (An Indian reserve in Northern Manitoba) completely contradicts that assertion.

Their elderly, and others with medical complications have had the worst cases and highest death rates than anyone else. Hundreds over the past few months have been spending weeks in hospitals hooked up to ventalators. Only one infant death, and that was an infant with other serious medical problems.

Unless this is a "test" area for stage 2 release...

It seems however, that almost all deaths from this "pandemic" were adults, older people with other medical problems, no matter where in the world they were reported from.

"I wonder how the push for the swine flu vaccine will affect availability of the normal flu shots? Hmmmmmm."

Considering Hillary care completely destroyed our capability to produce flu vaccine in the USA, That is a very good question. I suspect however, that we have ironed out the problems with importing supplies from a company in Vancouver BC that we had last year. It wasn't a problem with being able to aquire enough vaccine, it was a problem with politics.

From what I gather from Canadian news, they have no problem with being able to supply the entire problem with H1N1 vaccine by the end of September, with trials starting at the end of August. as well as regular flu strains, so I would imagine they will be producing as much as possible in order to capitalize on sales to US markets as well.

Unless there are paperwork problems again, (which is entirely possible given the budget problems in Calipornia and other states) You should be able to get it. I just wonder if there isn't something else they plan to put in it. They have made a great effort to make this into a pandemic from the very beginning, yet it is less harmful than regular flus.

I would be offended (since I’m an old fart), but H1N1 is mostly a fraud anyway. Other strains of the flu have killed many times as many people in the last few months.

The links I saw don’t support that...this one is typical.

http://www.cbc.ca/canada/manitoba/story/2009/06/08/mb-influenza-winnipeg.html

“And the illness is striking an unusual age distribution. Those affected are mostly in the age range of 20 to 55, as opposed to the very young and the very elderly, said Jan Currie, WRHA chief of nursing.”

I would be interested in a link to your take on it.

Maybe this strain of flu is deadly for Mohammedans, or they are planning to inoculate everyone 9especially women) for other things that are nasty for Arabs.

First, they have tried getting all the young girls vaccinations so they don't pass on clamidia, now another mass vaccination?

That must be one heck of a Muhammadan invasion they are planning. With almost 10 million Muhammadan here legally and illegally, it's entirely possible.

They do dream of thoe old Muhammadan days when they went city to city, mass murdering all the men and older boys, while keeping all the women for their sex slaves. Allah snak bar and all that.

I work in Winnipeg, i heard the news every day when it was at it's worst at that northern reserve, and all the Winnipeg hospitals were full of affected people on ventilators.

It was mostly older people and elderly.

I wouldn't take anything the CBC says as reliable. First, they are eastern Canadian based, and extreme left.

You could look through the achieves at CJOB, (chum radio Winnipeg) a talk radio station I listen to most morning while driving in to work from my home in ND, or look in the achieves at CTV Winnipeg, and also Global TV Winnipeg. It was a well covered topic since it was a local 'pandemic" problem which pretty much incapacitated every hospital in their 'wonderful' socialist system.
