AP source: Wis. Gov. Doyle won't seek re-election (Dem drops out due to low ratings)

Wisconsin Gov. Jim Doyle, whose approval ratings have plunged as he struggled with a weak economy and a multibillion-dollar budget deficit, will not seek a third term in 2010, a person informed of the decision told The Associated Press.

The person, who was not authorized to announce the decision, told The AP on Saturday that Doyle, a Democrat, would make the announcement public in a Monday news conference. The person also said Doyle would serve the rest of his second four-year term.

Meanwhile, it's been a rough year for Doyle.

Faced with a record high $6.6 billion budget shortfall, Doyle raised anger among Republicans and the business community for increasing some taxes. Doyle also upset state employees by mandating 16 days of unpaid leave over the next two years.

But he avoided raising general sales or income taxes, a move many saw as a sign he was positioning himself for another run. He also has been aggressively raising money, having collected $2 million to date.

This is not a good sign when a Rat incumbent governor with a huge war chest in a border state drops out more than a year before the election because his ratings have tanked and he knows that under my leadership they will only get worse.

Doyle has so screwed Wisconsin job-wise and debt-wise, it is time to move on to more lucrative areas - like the US House, US Senate, or a Tzar for Hussein - the two are close.

Who will win the Gov chair next election? Some Dem, pick one, doesn’t matter - ACORN has already cast the vote - Wisconsin: were all elections are rigged for Dem wins.

The person who was not authorized to announce the decision

That sounds like some kind of cabinet position in a Monty Python skit.

Not long after Doyle leaves office, Wisconsin will get a shall issue concealed carry bill. One has passed the legislature twice with 2/3 majorities, only to be vetoed by Doyle, who twisted arms to get his veto upheld.

Doyle is profoundly anti-gun. He has kept Wisconsin from having a CCW bill almost singlehandedly.

But, because if it, Wisconsin will probably get a better CCW bill than otherwise, because the people and the legislature have been far better educated than they used to be. Open carry is legal in Wisconsin, and is making news there.

What the story fails to mention is that Diamond Jim has recently been outed as having hired a crony's daughter as "Chief Legal Counsel" who is not licensed to practice law in the state of WI. He is in danger of losing his law license, and I believe that there will be some major dirt uncovered as a result of this. Any and all of Ms. No-License's correspondence is now available for open records requests-No Attorney-Client Priviledge if you're not an attorney!

Kudos to Mark Belling (of Rush substitute fame) for uncovering this little gem about Dear Governor.

And on another positive note, Milwaukee's REPUBLICAN (yes, you heard that right, a Republican did get elected in Milwaukee)County Executive, Scott Walker is making a run for Governor. He has been very well received in Milwaukee County, even amongst Democratic voters.

What about Congressman Paul Ryan for Governor? He’s a great conservative who could win statewide.

Who is is position to win?

Scott Walker, County Executive of Milwaukee County, looks to be the head's on favorite to win. He's a conservative in his philosophical outlook and fiscal responsibility.

Doyle is so incompetent, even Obama would not appoint him as a Federal Judge or other federal job.

Good riddance. Another Catholic (in name only) who supports killing babies.

Support Republican Scott Walker who has presented Milwaukee County budgets with no tax increases, yet gets over ridden by Democratic spenders. A strong Republican who won repeatedly in a overwhelming Democratic county. He will be opposed in the primary by a self serving former Congressman.

Paul Ryan needs to stay where he is and continue to fight for our conservative beliefs in Congress. Scott Walker got around 93 percent in a straw poll conducted at the state convention in May. There was plenty of enthusiasm for his message at the convention and his people were out in force, handing out literature and tee-shirts and he is a conservative.

I agree!!! Good riddance!!! I've even heard Dems in this state complain about his backdoor, closed, shrouded government tactics that have been devastating to all of us.
I hope that we can keep Tommy from running again. His ego is so big.
