Ireland’s new blasphemy law labeled return to Middle Ages

DUBLIN -- The Irish government plans to bring into force a new law in October that critics say is a return to medieval justice.

The legislation, aimed at providing judges with clear direction on the 1937 Constitution's blasphemy prohibition, imposes a fine of up to 25,000 euros -- about $39,000 -- for anyone who "publishes or utters matter that is [intentionally meant to be] grossly abusive or insulting in relation to matters held sacred by any religion, thereby causing outrage among a substantial number of the adherents of that religion."

Were the Irish terribly concerned about offending Moslems during the Dark Ages? Surely not!

Irish lawyers/parasites are leaping for joy over this legislation - do they even realize what they’re unleashing upon themselves?

I wonder if it applies to Christians? We do "turn the other cheek" quite often, you know. It has to apply to muzzies, since they will cut your head clean off if you even go so far as to offend their "book".

Ireland just wants not to have to piss off muzzies by prosecuting muzzie killers.

I guess I am not going to Ireland anytime soon. I am not visiting a bunch of cowards....damn! I can't go to Scotland since their "compassion" lets muzzie killers go...I can't go to England either since they made the deal to let muzzie killers go, and besides, they are so hypocritical that they banned Savage from their country while not banning real killers and other scofflaws.

I guess I'll just stay in Texas...we have everything here that I require.

If that statute were in place in the days of +Patrick, Druidism would still be firmly in place.

But then, a silly human law wouldn’t have mattered to +Patrick.

Obviously done to appease Muslims. I have had just about enough of the UK’s cowardice.

Is it still okay if I defame stupid, moronic death cults founded by homicidal schizophrenic, child-molesting scumbags and believed by the lowest sort of sun-blasted, goat-humping vermin ever whelped onto the earth?

Obviously done to appease Muslims

According to the source the original restriction was written 72 years ago, likely to stop religious insults among Christians.

France was an easy one, then England so sad, now Ireland…nice, real nice we’ll not have to differentiate between any “Filth of Islam” or Euro-trash from now on; when it’s time, pressing the red button will be easy.

A bend over and spread to Islam, since almost everything verbal is viewed as blasphamy to Islam.

Cracks me up—why does the truth about islam always seem insulting to the followers of the pedophile?

Rather like liberals, aren’t they?

Always pretending to be something they aren’t and when the truth is pointed out they scream “smears” and “insults.”

This is not 72 years ago and Muslims are trying to silence all critics of Islam across the world.

The wife and I were over in Ireland last April amd May when this subject was broached by the Irish government. Most letters to the editors in the Irish papers I read mocked this proposed law. Just about all of the letter writers thought it was stupid.

for anyone who "publishes or utters matter that is [intentionally meant to be] grossly abusive or insulting in relation to matters held sacred by any religion, thereby causing outrage among a substantial number of the adherents of that religion."

And we all know what "any religion" and "that religion" mean. (Islam)

Can you imagine Christians ever prosecuting someone for taking their Lord's name in vain? Maybe they should.
