When the "tea party" movement kicked off in April to protest record federal spending bills, trillion-dollar deficits and higher tax burdens, its members were fiercely independent and opposed any suggestion that they bond with a larger umbrella group, preferring to work within their local communities.
But that go-it-alone approach is changing as a result of the war over health care, and the Tea Party Express tour is leading the way.
The Tea Party Express - a caravan of buses, speakers and entertainers who have been holding protest rallies in cities and towns across the country - is heading to Washington, where on Saturday, up to 50,000 demonstrators are expected to march on the Capitol in a full-scale political offensive to persuade lawmakers to reject the health care overhaul bills that are pending in the House and Senate.

1) In support of our US Constitution and the enumerated rights it bestows on the legal US citizen (born and unborn)!
2) Against the un-constitutional expansion of the US Federal Government visa via CZARS, taxes and over regulation.
3) Against socialism and the government take over of our health care industry...in support of real, legitimate capitalism; free of fraud and deceit!
4) Against lazy legislators who dont read the bills they vote on!
5) In support of any potential political leaders who still believe in the American Spirit and the celebration of individual rights. The very same rights President Ronald Reagan held so closely to his heart.
6) Against illegal immigration and the open border policies that have robbed us of our financial and physical security!
7) Against an unfair tax code that robs the middle class of their wealth and re-distributes this wealth to the benefit of large unions and crony capitalists!
8) In support of Americas effort to become energy independent through the use of natural gas, nuclear energy and clean coal technologies!
9) In support of our military and the missions it undertakes!
10) In thanks to the 1,000,000,000 + men and women who died for the freedoms that are now being threatened by the current out of control Federal Government!
The Constitution does not bestow rights upon the citizen.
The rights emanate from God.
The Constitution limits the power of government to abrogate those inalienable rights.
I stand corrected...!
Let's make it 5M, folks.....Wash DC is only a 2 hour train ride for me. I'm going....
Anybody here seen any demographics that would indicate an unusual swell in DC population for 9/12...such as available (or not) hotel space, restaurant reservations, air/train reservations, etc...???
Come senators, congressmen
Please heed the call
Don’t stand in the doorway
Don’t block up the hall
For he that gets hurt
Will be he who has stalled
There’s a battle outside
And it is ragin’.
It’ll soon shake your windows
And rattle your walls
For the times they are a-changin’
How’s this?
1) In support of the enumerated God given rights guaranteed by US Constitution to the legal US citizen; born and unborn!
It’s a 10 hour drive from Indy. Leaving Friday morning.
OK.
This is a history changing event happening right before our eyes! :-)
Gosh, I wish we could go—Godspeed all of you and keep you safe from liberal loonies hell bent on makng trouble!!
About 8 hours from Knoxville, TN & I’m leaving tomorrow.
Know anything about parking and such in DC?
There’s parking at the Sheraton in VA where the FR Convention is to be held. There’s also parking at RFK Stadium near the DC Armory, which is also served by the DC Metro. I’m planning to leave my vehicle at the Sheraton and take the Metro to most venues. Google the Metro and you’ll get most of the information you need.
Thanks. I have the Metro map on my iPhone. But not staying at the Sheraton; do they even have rooms left? Not really sure where we might stay. This is more of an ad hoc, last minute planned trip on the cheap. Just felt it was too important to miss.
There are 20-25 buses going from NE Ohio alone.
If there are not at least 500,000 in attendance, we might as well pack it up. But it is okay...let 'em think only 50k are coming.
Leaving Friday morning for mid-afternoon arrival.
But FIRST, meeting up with the Tea Party Express tomorrow in Pittsburgh, PA.
Park in a satellite community and ride the train in. The subway will dump you out right onto the mall.
