Here's a great 30 second video of an Oregon sharpshooter hitting the target at 327 yards. They shot the video 4 times, and he hit it every time.

Wow.......

1169 yards, that’s pretty impressive. He must be using the Savage Target action on that rifle. I’m in the process of building a long range rig based on a Savage short action. Still debating whether to go 243 win(for cost) or 6.5 x 47 Lapua(for cache), performance of the Lapua cartridge is a little better but at a much higher price point.
But still, impressive just the same!
Not really.
Now, let’s see him try it with iron sights.
Marines qualify at 1167 yards?
Title is wrong, he did it at over 1100 yards.
Max range on the old USMC rifle qual course as 500 yards. Ten rounds prone slow fire at a 20” bullseye. Dunno what max qualifiying range is with the mouse guns now.
I think he means “feet”.
Count me among the unimpressed. From a prone position with a scope.....
I think the 284/6.5mm is still the king of the purpose built long range cartridges. Can’t see any reason to go elsewhere if you want to hit really really far.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marksmanship_Badge_(United_States)
“For a marksmanship badge to be obtained, a service member must obtain a passing score and will receive a qualification level depending on the score obtained. As of October 1, 2007, the Marine Corps has implemented a scored, Field Fire (aka Table 2, from 25100 m/82330 ft) portion to the established Known Distance (aka Table 1, or ‘KD’ from 200500 m/6601,600 ft) course of fire. This is the tactical counterpart to the competition style shooting of Table 1. The Table 2 fire is based on a 100 point scale and is additional to the legacy 250 point scale for Table 1. Scores for marksman range from 250-279, 280-304 for sharpshooter, and 305-350 for expert. If a Marine fails to qualify on the Field Fire portion, the individuals score will be dropped to 250 regardless of their actual score on the Known Distance course. Qualifying on the Known Distance course is a prerequisite to continue to Field Fire.”
But the rules have changed a bit since then.
Your video IS impressive, however, there are more than a few Marines who could do that, with NO scope!

.338 Lapua Magnum is the choice these days. Purpose designed long range necked down from .416 Rigby case.

“...hitting the target at 327 yards”
With a scope? Color me unimpressed. An iron sight shot would be more impressive at this range.
I do not understand,
What does that mean?
Yep. Back in Army Basic training in 1965 we routinely hit at 500 yards with iron sights using the M-14.
The shots were made at 1,169 yards with a 29 foot holdover. A bit more impressive. The intro here was screwed up.
apparently people disagree with your opinion.
point taken.
