Ministry of Truth, Obama-style
The American Thinker ^ | October 08, 2009 | John Griffing

"Freedom is the right to tell people what they do not want to hear." - George Orwell

President Obama has been agitating for the authority to criminalize political opponents since he took office. First there was the raft of DHS reports profiling conservatives as terrorists. Then came the push for a new fairness doctrine, subsequently refined to be achieved in diversity regulations to be imposed on local radio stations. Following these attacks on free speech was the much debated hate crimes legislation, considered by many to be a back-door path to silencing critics of the administration. But, while dangerous to free speech, none of these draconian policies could do as much damage as new regulatory czar Cass Sunstein's shocking proposal to ban "falsehoods" -- a term left up to the Obama administration to define. If Sunstein succeeds, free speech will be truly dead in America.

And this czar will be able to do what exactly to enforce his decisions?

While there will be some who would kow-tow and do as demanded there will be significant others who will greet such a demand with a stiff middle finger.

Memory hole?

A piece of paper doesn't make a marriage, a piece of paper doesn't make a doctor, a piece of paper doesn't make an engineer and a piece of paper doeasn't make an American. It is in your heart, or it isn't.

Remember 4th of July fireworks and the nightime crowd went, "ooooo" .. "Ahhhhh" ?

Remember Memoriol Day parades, maybe your dad had you on his shoulders, or you were in front, and you saw others salute the flag, so in your best John-John Kennedy, YOU saluted?

Remember making a thanksgiving turkey in kindergarten by tracing your hand on paper and the teacher helped you crayon in the different 'feathers' of your fingers?

Remember feeling a warmth, no matter WHAT your life was like, at Christmastime and the thought or hope of peace and love was really real because there was Jesus and you believed Him, and so did the rest of America?

Remember the smell of peanut butter and jelly sam'iches in grammer school and the walls had pictures of Washington and Lincoln ... the alphabet in print and cursive?

zero has NONE of those memories .. NO American thread, NO American fabric.

Rememnber ... he told us to know him by the ones he associates with ... I dare say, none of zero's administration have any American memories.

They all must go.

Impeach and remove immediately.

Yeah, I knew that .. I was just being selfish with something I wrote a few days ago.

I've become (almost) obsessed with zero's lack of any American childhood, upbringing and memories.

It has occurred to me that our relationship with America, politics, the office of the president and almost everything we (have) ever read here in FreeRepublic is predicated on our memories of how and where we grew up (our memories) and the education we've received.

I'm 62 years old and spent the first 17 years of my life in a little, Roslindale, Massachusetts.

zero is almost 50 and spent his first 17 years in Indonesia and who knows where else, learning what.

You know these folks remind me of what I imagine pedophiles would do. Real Polanskis. Telling us, "Don't worry about a thing. Of course, I would never do a thing like that to you. You just relax. Here let me rub your neck. You have so much tension there! There, isn't that much better? Yes you just lay back and relax and everything will be just fine..."

Of course we have no intention of any "Fairness Doctrine", of course you can keep your own health care, or course we have no intention of taking away anyone's firearms.

Wake up folks, before you realize you have a d!ck in you @$$.

Hmmmm ... I think it's my (our) obligation and duty to keep America alive.

Like the tea parties .... maybe a "Remember America" movement should be promoted.

I know exactly what you mean.

My husband from the git go has said “this man is not AMerican, he is a foreigner, an Indonesian, by his very history.

He is living in and head of what to him is a foreign country. Now if he were British or Scottish, or German or preferably Australian, he would know in his bones what we are as a country.

He doesn’t. Hubby and I are from families that were here in the 1700’s,,we know American. In our bones.

Good post! You capture what it is to be American.

I would go back further as a kid during WWII and remember rationing, gold and blue stars hung in windows to indicate how many household members were in the military with the gold indicating ones who died, collecting cans and other scrap metal for use in the war, buying stamps at school which were later redeemed as war bonds, popular songs about the military and the war, etc., all done with a sense of dedication and loyalty to country.

Little did we know at the time that FDR and his cronies were fighting the war to save Joe Stalin’s butt and to transform the America we just described and the America we love into that we were fighting.

Obama is just the latest iteration of that transformation.

These incessant socialist assaults on the very freedoms that built this great nation must be stopped. The people MUST take back their country, starting with taking back their government.
The Federal leviathan has far overstepped its Constitutional bounds and has, for many years, imposed its will in areas over which it rightly has NO authority. It must be collared, and pushed back within the bounds of the Constitution.

The pretender in the WH is a socialist, with no allegiance to the traditions and history that is America. He has asked us to know him by his acquaintances. We do! And, we are not impressed. We are gravely concerned.

I have to wonder if the original plan was to use ACORN and SEIU goons to enforce oppressive administrative rulings—the “civilian security force” that Zippy and Rahmbo talked about.

Of course, ACORN is now on the run and we saw how reliable the union punks were during the town halls and tea parties. A few turned out, and some used rough tactics, but on the whole they were extremely unreliable, ineffective, and poorly motivated.

One of Hussein’s worst problems is that he views himself as a “citizen of the world” and therefore outside of and superior to the American culture.

He thinks this country is just a corner of the world and we have to bend to what the will of the rest of the planet wants.

When mugabe made his speech in Berlin, he proclaimed himself to be a citizen of the world. He warned us.
