PROPONENTS of compul sory, government-designed health insurance can't seem to understand why others disagree. Perhaps the public is realizing that these proposals are fundamentally about redistributing health?
Health-care "reform," that is, aims to shift costs and benefits of health insurance from some groups to others. And the losers are turning out to be less docile than politicians had hoped.
All the leading proposals involve massive redistribution from people with healthy lifestyles to those who take more risks. As the Congressional Budget Office explained, "Premiums in the new insurance exchanges would tend to be higher than the average premiums in the current-law individual market . . . because the new policies would have to cover pre-existing medical conditions and could not deny coverage to people with high expected costs for health care

BUMP
Hopefully this attempt at HEALTH CONTROL will have the same blow back effect that gun control by the Clinton/Gore administration did.
Thisd is the most surreal issue yet.Since Bill and Hillary took on Health Care years ago I was screaming at My TV ,the Health Care system is fine ITS THE COST that is the problem.
Here we are again the health system is going to be destroyed and what should be the intent of reform is totally ignored and Made WORSE ,the COST! The costs are going to Sky rocket and everyone just accepts it and doesnt say a thing, they are voting for a plan today that is going to punish everyone .
Just cover the 10 million who dont have health care ,save trillions,do tort reform ,expand Health savings accounts and leave us the Hell alone
Perhaps the single greatest flaw in the statists’ argument for the Baucus bill is their assertion that a massive government intervention in the healthcare market will be largely financed by reducing fraud, waste and abuse in another massive government intervention in the healthcare market. If one intervention led to half a trillion dollars in excess costs, why is it not logical to expect that the next one will also do so? If it’s so easy to cut half a trillion dollars out of Medicare and Medicaid, why have we not already done so? The truth is that the savings will not materialize, the new system will be rife with waste, fraud and abuse, and the budget will threfore be burdened even more than it is already is. Having no choice, the government will be forced to turn to draconian price controls, the result of which will be a signficant decline in the quality and quantity of healthcare just when the Boomers need it most.
Health insurance could be better, but people struggling in these economic times are going to see that, yes some people that do not have insurance right now, need help. But if it comes at the expense of what the individual worker has enjoyed over the years, there will be hell to pay. We may be a "giving" nation, but only when someone else does the giving.
This article says that people are catching on.
What a laugh, We, the people caught on long ago. It’s the Got Dam media and papers like the POST who are keeping their eyes closed.
The public has caught on , that is why they will not allow us to see us the bill.
That's what amendments and reconciliation is for - building the loop-holes for unions and weak, at risk Rats.
