Ware Man Charged with Illegal Possession of Ammunition and Manufacturing Explosive Materials

SPRINGFIELD, MA—A Ware man was charged today in federal court with Possession of Ammunition by a Convicted Felon and Manufacturing Explosive Materials without a License.

United States Attorney Carmen M. Ortiz; Glenn N. Anderson, Special Agent in Charge of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Boston Field Division; Warren T. Bamford, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Boston Field Division; Leigh-Alistair Barzey, Resident Agent in Charge of the Office of Inspector General, Department of Defense’s Department of Criminal Investigative Service in Boston; and Randy Miskanic, Inspector in Charge of the U.S. Postal Inspection Service - Boston Division, announced today that ABRAHAM FORISH, age 36, of 187 Old Gilbertville Road, Ware, Massachusetts, was charged in an Indictment with Possession of Ammunition by a Convicted Felon.

The superseding Indictment alleges that FORISH possessed numerous rounds of varying calibers of ammunition after having been convicted of a felony. It further alleges that FORISH manufactured the explosive material triacetone triperoxide (TATP) without a license.

If convicted on these charges, FORISH faces up to 10 years' imprisonment, to be followed by up to three years of supervised release, and a $250,000 fine on each count of the superseding Indictment.

The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Defense Criminal Investigative Service, and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service. It is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Alex J. Grant of Ortiz’s Springfield Branch Unit.

The details contained in the Indictment are allegations. The defendant is presumed to be innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

I didn’t know that a felon couldn’t touch or possess ammo.

Maybe only-in-Mass. Wouldn’t surprise me there.

It almost seems they hid the name of the perp in the paragraph:

Postal Inspection Service - Boston Division, announced today that ABRAHAM FORISH

I can't tell if it is muslim or not, but I guess we'll find out.

“Authorities Find Arsenal In Ware Man’s Basement”
Posted: Feb 17, 2009 09:24 AM

“Photo courtesy: The Republican Abraham Forish in 1998”

By abc40 Staff

WARE, Mass. (abc40) —

SNIPPET: “Abraham Forish, 36, was arrested on Thursday for possession of shell casings, a violation of his release on machine-gun related charges for which he was arrested for in 1999. He then fled, missed a court date, and was arrested in New Mexico in 2000.”

SNIPPET: “Inside of Forish’s house, authorities found chemicals to make triaceteonetriperoxide (TATP), the same explosive material used in the London subway bombings in 2005, and that terrorist Richard Reid smuggled on to a trans-Atlantic flight in 2001.

Also found were two AR-15 rifle receivers, a Heckler & Koch G3 receiver, two G3 magazine drums, a four-foot long .50 caliber rifle barrel for a Browning .50 machine gun, a trigger housing for a .22 caliber Ruger pistol with two magazines, parts for the construction of an MG42 machine gun. An MG42 is a Nazi-era German rifle. Authorities also found parts for the construction of a M249 firearm, a bullet-resistant vest, a book that describes how to make 45 different explosives for unconventional warfare.”

Googling the name leads one to believe otherwise.
The FBI has been watching this guy a while. Here’s an affidavit for his detention filed in February.
http://media2.wwlp.com/storydocuments/ForishAffidavit.pdf

He originally came to their attention over ten years ago:
November 5, 1998, Massachusetts: Abraham Forish of Easthampton, Massachusetts, is arrested after police respond to a report of a man firing automatic guns in his yard. Authorities discover a stockpile of weapons and ammunition, including a pipe bomb and a machine gun, and arrest him on bomb possession charges. Based on comments Forish made about Ruby Ridge, Idaho, and Waco, Texas, police conclude that he belongs to one or another extremist movements.

That news story Cindy posted is pretty good. I loved the ending paragraphs:
“Authorities also confiscated a book titled “Unintended Consequences,” a novel about the murder of federal agents by characters who feel that their right to possess guns has been taken away. Forish has used the alias “Irwin Mann,” a character in this novel.

Forish’s wife advised agents that Forish would frequently return home from work, drink alcohol, and retreat to the basement, where much of the contraband was found. Forish told authorities that he has been prescribed anti-anxiety medications, but has not been taking them.”

So here’s a guy whose sitting around with “anti-anxiety medications”, lots of alcohol, an arsenal in his basement, and lots of anger. This could make for a bad situation.

I am formally from Mass and the gun or weapons issue there is that you must have an FID ( firearms identification)card. Everyone in Mass has to have one of these cards to be in possession on firearms of any kind and to possess ammunition. If you are caught in possession without an FID card you go to jail......mandatory 12 months I believe. A felon can’t get an FID card so if caught with or in possession of firearms and or ammunition he/she get a free pass to jail......B.B. guns as well as BB’s and I believe paint ball guns as well as the paint balls you also need an FID card........If you want to know what communism is like move to Mass for 2 years....

Isn't that jumping to conclusions? What about his 1st Amendment rights? He was just talking.

That was just a quote from the news item I cited.

He wasn’t prosecuted for his statements in 1998. He was prosecuted for his machine gun ownership. As was said in one of the other news articles:
“Abraham Forish, 36, was arrested on Thursday for possession of shell casings, a violation of his release on machine-gun related charges for which he was arrested for in 1999. He then fled, missed a court date, and was arrested in New Mexico in 2000.”

So I gather that he was arrested for machine guns, and the authorities noted he was upset about Ruby Ridge and Waco and talked as if he belonged to an extremist movement.

He could say whatever he wants. I brought it up to illustrate that the guy is probably not a Muslim.
