That truly was heart warming, Bulldawg Fan. Thanks for sharing! Brought a smile to my face this morning and a tear to my eye.
What a beautiful clip...This needs a Kleenex alert...that doggie was crying with joy!
Who’s doing the Doggie ping now? I forgot..
They truly are man’s best friend! Unconditional love.
During one of my few calls from Desert Storm with my wife (SSG / Drill Sgt at the time)she was attacked by “Sis Kitty” who pawed the phone from her hand and howled for her “daddy”.
Excellent. Beautiful. Thanks.
Ping for later.
(big grin!) Thanks for that — it made my day!
(Just try getting a cat to do that, ay!)
thank you so much for posting

I’ve got an old Doggie Ping List
They must remember by smell, maybe? We’ve always wondered.
My dogs (We have 3 Cocker Spaniels)remember my kids who make it home maybe twice a year. The never forgot my Husband after 6 month deployments and they also remember my Mother in law who has visited twice in maybe 3 years.
They greet them like they do when I come home from going to the store. They grab a toy to greet them, whine, run around them, climb up on them then run straight for the kitchen for a doggie treat.
Pets do remember...my MIL’s cat always greeted me with joyful enthusiasm every time we visited, and until he was neutered he didn’t really like anyone. He’d headbutt my face, try to bite my nose (which was the ultimate show of affection from him, reserved only for his MOST favorite ppl), and cuddle up close. I saw him a few times a year but he would go just as nuts after 6 months as if he’d only been shut out for the night.
I miss him :-(
I wonder what it is smell or do they remember faces? I understand recognizind family who they always see but people that they rarely see?
I love cats. My husband and kids, however, don’t so I haven’t had a cat in many many years. I am a dog lover now.
Well, no wonder, he’s been gone for like
4000 dog years~!
I suppose cats would welcome you back too,
with endearing yowls that mean “Feed me”
and “ My litter box needs cleaning”.
I do miss how utterly sweet and unjudgemental dogs are...not so much barking, having to be let out, doggie drool...
I’m guessing smell is the better part of it, as blind pets don’t have any issues recognizing someone they know. I’ve had 2 rats who were blind from birth and neither had any issue knowing who was who...and who could be conned out of a treat or an extra scratch behind the ears.
OTOH, one of our cats freaks out *every* time I wash my hands and has to recheck to be sure it’s really me. Doesn’t matter what type of soap I use, or even if it’s just a quick rinse to get crumbs or pet hair off my fingers, he still has to spend several seconds sniffing to be sure, even if I was never out of his sight.
