Climatgate: Another Possible Break-in Reported
National Post ^ | Dec. 3, 2009 | Megan O'Toole

Posted on 12/04/2009 4:21:58 PM PST by Duke C.

An alleged series of attempted security breaches at the University of Victoria in the run-up to next week's Copenhagen summit on climate change is evidence of a larger effort to discredit climate science, says a renowned B.C. researcher.

Andrew Weaver, a University of Victoria scientist and key contributor to the Nobel prize-winning work of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, says there have been a number of attempted breaches in recent months, including two successful break-ins at his campus office in which a dead computer was stolen and papers were rummaged through.

This stuff is great. This is the way to counterattack all this left wing crap. Glenn Beck has done some fine work along these lines, going after Van Jones et al. Those Acorn Videos were another fine example. Good to see some guerrilla tactics being employed on our side for a change. We’re usually the ones bringing a plastic spoon to the knife fight.

Don’t you love it? This is an “..attempt to discredit”. It’s more like it’s an exposure of deceit. Or maybe that doesn’t compute :)

I call BS. Rather than an outsider, this is just as likely to be an insider trying to delete the university’s own embarrassing and fake data, and staging a burglary to mislead the cops.

There should be no need to break-in to access scientific data for peer review and to test the veracity of the conclusions drawn upon that data in the first place.

I think they have done a pretty fine job of discrediting themselves.

They dont need any help in that Department, their problem now is in making themselves credible again.

It’s not break ins, it’s whistle-blowers ... If you have looked at the CRU files, you really had to know what you were doing, what you were looking for, take lots of time, to round up and download all those files. Think about it.

it’s inside jobs.

In lib speak, whistleblowing is now known as ‘hacking’ or ‘attempts to discredit’.

Of course, that’s not what they called it when the NYT was trumpeting military intel far and wide during the Bush administration.

For people who claim to be outraged by hypocrisy, they certainly are guilty of it most of the time.

Weaver’s name appears in 8 CRU e-mails, but none appear to have any of his direct input.
