Greetings. I’m a math/stats professor, and I’m teaching a probability course. One of my research interests is Benford’s law of digit bias; one nice application of it is in detecting tax and other fraud. Does anyone have links to the fradulent data sets? I’d be very interested to see if the test indicates tampering. If it does, the next thing to do is check other climate data.

If you have any relevant files / webpages / links, please send them to me at sjm1 AT williams.edu. Thanks! ..s

Here’s the interesting part of this...if there was no back-up of the data...and the University lost it’s only real copy...then it’s just as embarrassing and very screwed up. I would likely fire the guy...if this was the one and only copy...just on the stupidity of his act.

Right there lies the difference. The current pop culture is not appealing to conservatives. Most art shows I go to are full of political crap and talentless scribble produced by folks who are more concerned with projecting their “rebellious” persona than producing anything thoughtful or beautiful. I haven't seen many inspiring movies over the past 10 years either. It appears special effects are the draw rather than an intriguing script or subject matter.

But what really turns the conservative off of pop culture, is not the product as much as the producer. These people may have some talent, but their constant public display of idiocy makes it impossible to support them.

The current pop culture is not appealing to conservatives.

That's because conservatives don't play much of a role in it. In my opinion, that's a mistake. Conservatives should be involved in pop culture, not in ham-handed, overt ways. But in subtler ways. Not preaching, but merely setting an example, modelling desired values and behaviors, not in passing ways, but in timeless ways. Family, faith, honor, courage, etc., done in ways that will fit into the format and style of the day. The sheeple need to see proper conduct modelled for them, and need to see that it is acceptable and mainstream.

I call BS. Rather than an outsider, this is just as likely to be an insider trying to delete the university’s own embarrassing and fake data, and staging a burglary to mislead the cops.
++++++++++++++++

And, bonus, they can enroll their lackies in the press to make this look like skeptics. Your theory is VERY plausible. Lots of distrust on both sides of this, but between socialists and skeptics, who are more likely to deceive?

“ignore the e-mails and focus on the fact they were stolen”

Similar to the tactic used in the original O.J. trial where the police were put on trial opposed to O.J.

Now the means by which the Climate information was collected, and disseminated is on trial, opposed to the content.

I see no correlation between family, faith, honor and courage and today's pop culture. Square peg....round hole.
