To make sure I’m clear: I’m not disputing Cockburn’s climate-science point, far from it in fact. I’m just commenting on his first-and-last paragraph rhetorical framing.

Wow, this from ultra lefty Alexander Cockburn? Kudos to him for getting it right this time, and its a biggie!

Check out Al Gore: A User's Manual, by Alexander Cockburn and Jeffrey St. Clair, first published in the U.K. in 2000. Cockburn has been arguing for years that AGW is pure B.S. and that Al Gore's embrace of AGW is first and foremost about Gore's personal quest for power.

(Cockburn called the book a user's manual on the grounds that every expensive and complex tool requires a user's manual, and Gore is a real tool.)

Thanks for the link to the video. This should be required viewing for all high school and college science classes. You have to suspend logic to not see what Mr. Coleman proved on his charts. Clearly, the models are in complete opposition to the actual temperatures. I hope the Republicans are gutsy enough to bring Mr. Coleman in to testify before Congress buttressed by Lord Monckton (?).But since when did socialists/marxists statists use logic. Their end game is control and domination.

Here we are in our second week of as many early blizzards and this non-scientist can’t see the simple fact that such extreme weather events are the very hallmarks of global warming induced global climate change?

I’m tired of listening to these movie review style reports being treated as anything other than mere gossipy chatter among the loser class.

It’s 72F in my part of Nashville right now and over 60F in the attic.

My water heater has begun to steam.

Deceitful manipulation of data, concealment or straightforward destruction of inconvenient evidence, vindictive conspiracies to silence critics, are par for the course in all scientific debate. But in displaying all these characteristics, the CRU e-mails graphically undermine the claim of the Warmers that they command the moral as well as scientific high ground. It has been a standard ploy of the Warmers to revile the skeptics as whores of the energy industry, swaddled in munificent grants and with large personal stakes in discrediting AGW. Actually, the precise opposite is true. Billions in funding and research grants sluice into the big climate-modeling enterprises and a vast archipelago of research departments and "institutes of climate change" across academia. It's where the money is. Skepticism, particularly for a young climatologist or atmospheric physicist, can be a career breaker.
