Rejection of GOP Membership Card (vanity)
Self | 01/06/2010 | self

January 6th, 2010,

Dear Mr. Steele,

I have been reviewing the platform of the Republican Party since mid 2006. Unfortunately I find myself in disagreement with the way the party has abandoned most conservative values that used to represent the core values American’s like myself hold with convictions.

I am tired of the term bi-partisan because all that represents is capitulation and compromise in much of the legislation Republicans are actually involved in forming. Unfortunately our country has been hijacked by a group of left wing, Marxist oriented individuals who embrace Hugo Chavez and Revolutionary figures like Mao, Che, and Castro. But How, HOW did we get to this point where our Constitution and freedoms are under assault? It is because the Republican Party abandoned core conservatives by advancing weak candidates of compromise. Dede Scozzafava of New York is a prime example that Republicans no longer embrace conservative values and only seek window dressing Republican in Name Only (RINO) candidates.

Americans like myself have decided that we can better perform the vetting process for candidates WE BELIEVE IN. The Republican Party, with few exceptions, appears to have been railroaded by whining liberals into offering candidates who might appeal to center left, but not to conservatives center right. Unfortunately our Constitution leaves no room for legislating deals that compromise the rights of citizens. Americans are tired of being ignored except during elections.

Although I do have to commend Republicans for standing firm against Health Care, they appear to be doing it ONLY because we have been backed up against a wall by vicious Marxist changelings. Republicans already have sell outs on Cap and Trade, and probably Immigration Reform, which I opposed bitterly when GW Bush was President. These are examples of why I can no longer support a Republican Party that only seems to react and change rhetoric when they fear the loss of financial support.

The Tea Party, while not embracing any individual as a leader, has reminded the people that change does not start at the top. Real change for the better of our country comes from grass roots conservatives vetting candidates regardless of party affiliation. We no longer feel we can trust the Republican Party with the task of fronting conservative candidates. Politics is not a “one size fits all” approach to leadership. When politicians are all over the board on what they represent, they are not leaders. Being a representative of the people is much more than occasionally shaking our hands and telling us you are fighting for us when your actions are inconsistent.

Mr. Steele, because of these things I have outlined in my letter, I have to graciously REFUSE the Republican Party Membership Card you have sent me and have enclosed the returned card. If I make contributions to any candidate, from now on I will make contributions directly to the candidate I believe in. I can no longer support the Republican Party making campaign contributions to weak candidates anywhere, I would not personally support.

I love my country. I support and defend OUR CONSTITUTION and expect that every politician take their oath “TO PROTECT AND DEFEND THE CONSTITUTION FROM ALL ENEMIES, FOREIGN AND DOMESTIC, SO HELP ME GOD, seriously. Unfortunately politics as usual has forgotten how to truly be what American’s expect a politician to be ETHICAL, PROTECTS LIFE AND LIBERTY FOR ALL, Keeps their nose out of our personal lives and the decisions we are capable of making for ourselves, and STANDS THEIR GROUND on issues the people ask them to stand upon.

And remember that first, we are American Citizens and not World Citizens. Our Constitution is unique to America. To do anything that weakens our Constitution and sovereignty is un-American and unacceptable. I appeal to Republicans to honor their oath as Americans first. Then perhaps we can support your party. But until that time, change is not in your hands. The people are back in control.

Respectfully,

I have had enough of the Republican Party pandering. This is my response to a membership card the RNC sent me, along with, of course, a donation solicitation. I sent the response, along with my card, in their postage paid envelope.

Excellant letter. I received one of those membership cards this week. Have not responded, but your letter gives me some good points. Thanks

I would like to use the same letter as you have spelled it out, but then it would look like some kind of form letter, so I won't do that.

You are way too nice!

I would have attached the PP envelope to a cinder block.

I put forth the motion that from now on any Republican who uses the phrases “bipartisanship” or “or reaching across the aisle” immediately be the recipient of a swift kick in the nads. Any one to second?

You’re not alone. I figured out that the Republican party was not for conservatives late last year and did pretty much the same.

My suspicions began years ago with G W Bush (a supposed hero of conservatism) calling Islam a religion of peace in response to 9/11(!), and concluded when the GOP deliberately began to ignore the very serious constitutional issues with Zero’s eligibility.

Dear Mikey Steele - the only things you find in the middle of the road are yellow stripes and roadkill.

Call me when you’re ready to fight for conservative values.

You are free to use my letter, or make your own and probably improve on my lack of literary competence. :)

Actually I think the more people use their own words and thoughts, they might understand it isn’t afroturfing with copied forms.

I cut mine up, put it in the self addressed envelope, wrote in red marker the words: NO R.I.N.O.s

[...immediately be the recipient of a swift kick in the nads.]

I’ll second this, but only if we both agree that this is only the START of the action that needs to follow!

Great idea but cinder block won’t fit thru slot in the blue mail box. Rolling up a couple of old newspapers, attaching the PP envelope with clear mailing tape, and dropping it in the mailbox works well.

Have always “returned” those obnoxious credit card offers (torn into itty-bitty pieces of course) using the included PP envelopes.

Now that I think of it, I did have some brickwork done on home recently...and I do have some leftover brick...hmmmm...

Excellent! I doubt there is enough intelligence left in the GOP "leadership" to understand your points, but maybe if enough Republicans show that they are more importantly Conservatives, they might just stop and think for a minute.

I bet they could build a border fence with all the
cut-up membership cards that have been returned.

Steele's a fool, but has no real influence anyway. Ignore him.

The only way 2010 won't be the beginning of a conservative resurgence is if we go into it divided. You've made an excellent start - for the Democrats.

Fine thought, however I would rather have a president and a congress that put our country first in all things. I would like to see the Constitution of the United States followed to the letter, but I know that will never happen for obvious reasons. However, I can live with a constitutional government, one not one driven by a Marxist ideology. I don't trust Obama, he has a problem with the truth, or the thugs he has appointed to make my decisions for me. I have a few reservations about the Democrat congress we now have. They still don't recognized a bribe as a bribe, even if it is unconstitutional.

Thanks for the use of your letter, I doubt that I would be able to improve it in any way. I totally agree with your last paragraph.

I would propose a FREEPER contest... Post your creative reply to the RNC beg-o-gram. Charge a one dollar fee which will go to Freerepublic as a donation.. Prize will be a trip to RNC headquarters to deliver the entries to Mr. Steele...

“You’ve made an excellent start - for the Democrats.”

Excuse me? I am dividing nobody. The GOP party is the source of the divisions. Conservatives know exactly what they want.
The GOP used to stand for/with conservatives.

If the GOP don’t address their problem with window dressing candidates, I can stand on my principles and not support them, even if offered a cornhuckster compromise.
They will never change if we keep feeding them money while they tell us how much they are like us while remaining insulated from accountability.

My check book is put away until I see the candidate who I feel I can trust. In the mean time, I feel I cannot trust any candidate the GOP puts forward. You must enjoy being on the losing side of your liberty. Because that’s exactly what kind of candidates the GOP has been promoting.
Either the party changes for us. Or we change to another party. Plain. simple.
