I saw him in the early 70’s in San Francisco. What an incredible show.

Sylvia was one of my favorites. I have been a fan since I was 5 years old, now 51. I remember the first time I saw “ Love me Tender”, I cried at the end thinking he really died, but of course I was only 7 years old. I was fortunate enough to see him in concert in Tucson, AZ. back in ‘75. And got to go to Graceland a year later. Sure don’t make them like him anymore.

I Was The One

And his live performance of I'll Remember You and Softly As I Leave You.

But in reality, most all of his songs were my favorites.

Kentucky Rain
Don’t Cry Daddy
Early Morning Rain

One of my brothers was a stunt rider/extra in Stay Away Joe and has always said Elvis in person was a down to earth genuine person. He says Elvis had time to talk to everyone there no matter how menial their job on the set Elvis treated them all as friends.

Nice collection, Elle Bee. I read that Sinatra was quite jealous of Elvis. Sinatra had a voice, but Elvis had everything.

There have been many accolades uttered about Elvis' talent and performances through the years, all of which I agree with wholeheartedly. I shall miss him dearly as a friend. He was a warm, considerate and generous man. -- Frank Sinatra

I don't think Sinatra spoke with the press very much so I always take their comments about him with a grain of salt

I don't think either tread on the other's turf ... and they both seemd to light up Vegas

First Elvis record I ever bought (2nd record overall) was “Hard Headed Woman”. Still have it.

Did you ever read about Sinatra calling Elvis’ music degenerate and vulgar and all that? Part of the motivation for enlisting was to clean up his image. Elvis’ appearance on Sinatra’s show when he returned from the army was sort of making amends, however, Sinatra was astonished by how overpowering the adoration for Elvis was on Sinatra’s own show. Elvis thought Sinatra was making fun of him with the lame medley they did at the end of the show. Yes, this is all stuff I read, so who really knows. But Sinatra’s trashing of Elvis when he first got big is publicly recorded.

One of the DJs on either WMCA or WABC AM in N.Y [I think it was Dan Ingraham on ABC] once introduced “Burning Love” by dedicating it “to all the boys down at the Free Clinic”. Damn near died laughing.

I have no idea .... but I seem to remember that Sinatra hated to speak with the press because he was burned so many times and because he was Sinatra he usually didn't

It seems out of character for him he was pretty generous towards most performers in the business

Just look at the 'press' today ... they are more writers than reporters

I fell in love with Elvis at a very young age. I even convinced my parents to take me to his concert when I was still a little girl (pre-10yrs old). Elvis has colored my attraction to men my entire life, I’m drawn to tanned, dark haired men. Oddly enough I married a red head! Anyway, I love all his music but “Love Me Tender” has a special place in my heart.

Bit of trivia, Elvis's maternal grandmother was Jewish.
