Elvis can’t hold a candle to our guy you-know-who, but he sure could sing. I will go with ‘Blue Hawaii’.

That’s a good list, Elle Bee. May I suggest adding the link for “Bridge” which is the best version I’ve found, plus this version of “I Got a Woman” which is SMOKIN: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mfzR55bEwys

Thank you.

He's a good looker, too.

"just sitting there clapping politely. They just saw the greatest performer they would ever see do an astonishingly powerful version of a great song, and they’re just sitting there."

Funny thing is, when I snuck in I stuck out like a sore thumb, I was in my late teens but everyone there was in suits and tuxes, formals.. etc. It looked like a black tie event. They were all the upper crust of the area. I don't know if it was because the tickets were so expensive or they all had contacts to get tickets or what.. But there were few if any of the screaming women one might expect at his concerts.

It was very odd. They responded much like you noticed.. Like they were at the symphony.

I have always been fond of ‘Are You Lonesome Tonight’. But, the laughing version is quite funny. I remember seeing it years ago. But, youtube has the singing version with scenes from some of his movies...

Happy Birthday, King. And thank you, Cinnamon Girl, for this beautiful thread. I agree with you that Elvis is the most beautiful person ever photographed, and thank you for the graceful and moving pictures of him. My favorite songs of his are:

Suspicious Minds
Kentucky Rain
I Can't Help Falling in Love with You
The Ghetto
His beautiful gospel music

His spirit is so solidly felt here in Memphis...and it's so sadly bittersweet. I miss him biggy bunches.
